It is the fault of both of you that I have bought these. The ones I have bought look well built. I don’t need any more power for my current speakers. I am sure that they modulus 86 amps are good, but I need to see how they will fit in my system. It sounds nicely balanced at the moment. If these amps take it a step further, I will be happy. I was thinking about this, Everyone who has been to have a listen to the 686 has either bought one, or is planning on getting one when they can. Literally a 100% conversion rate. Valves, SS, Class D, it hasnt mattered one bit. The 686 has been a huge success in that regard What do you think about the ASR reviews with the Hypex NC400 measuring better than the Modulus 286?

I've never heard the Hypex stuff, but those I spoke to about them suggested they suffer from sounding a little artificial or synthetic in places. The 286 certainly doesn't suffer from that at all. The Neurochrome 286 may not measure quite as well according to ASR, but if you read the comments, Tom does question how they managed to not measure the performance figures of the 286 as well he did. I'm not concerned by it at all. I love the 686. A genuine love of everything I play through it so I'm happy.

And the Benchmark measures better than either of them. You won't find anyone on ASR who would say that there would be an audible difference between any of them though.

Yup, the benchmark was high on my list of candidates to replace the Krell but something about the Neurochrome begged me to try it. Audibly better? Dunno, but I dont care to find out. The 686 is endgame for me. I also think I can get more from it by changing the internal woring and the psu All things are on the agenda

No idea, they have been posted this morning. Fingers crossed that they will arrive by the weekend..... I have a tracking number, so I should have a good idea of when they are likely to arrive soon.

Today we have been swimming and went to watch story time with our son. We are on holiday at Bluestone in Wales. It is really cold here and we have had quite a lot of hailstorms, but as we have a golf buggy on hire, it’s not too bad

I plan on getting back to a solid 17st before October. I am a proper fat Sh#t at the minute but 13 months of no exercise and mood eating will do that.

Tuesday I ... became The Doctor (well, A Doctor to be precise). Congratulations doc! What subject is the doctorate for? Thanks! It's in English Literature. I heard that I'd been awarded the Doctorate way back in August, but I just missed the July graduation ceremony so had to wait until earlier this week to be formally graduated.

Got back from Cambodia yesterday at 4.00pm after a 27hour journey door to door. Feeling quite out of it this morning but looking forward to 4 days of Cheltenham festival racing.

Will you be at Kegworth? I will have a Leak Stereo 20, an NEC A820E integrated and I might take my prototype Firebottle dual mono build, the forerunner of the hybrid mono blocks.
I have sold two others already.
