I’ve only had one Schiit. It was the Asgard 2 headphone amp inad it was a mighty fine piece of kit. Very nicely built, lovely to use and sounded absolutely spot on. Clear and natural with the ability to let you hear everything that was going on without shouting at you.
I do fancy more Schiit. I just don’t know whether I’m ready to try the teensy boxes yet. I like the larger cases. A phono stage would be nice to try. Anyone had one?
For once, I have no need of tone controls but if is did, I’d want to try their tone control box too.
Finally, I’m looking forward to seeing their turntable.
Anyone else planning a Schiit in the near future?

I've not had a Schitt of any kind. ASR has reviewed some of their stuff, unfavourable in terms of build quality, measured performance and safety. Ofc they don't review sound quality on ASR...
Their DAC technical babble is just fantasy, and lies, although they're far from the only offender there. They seem to have got their name out there with the funny name, the looks, the 'built in the USA' schtick and some clever viral marketing. I think it's just tat really. Sorry.

No need to be sorry, I have t tried the cheaper stuff so I don’t know about the build on that, but the Asgard was a lovely thing in the flesh and felt very nice to use. I’d have another headphone amp, whether another Asgard or a Valhalla.I do like my Claymore more, sonically though. Asgard was prettier though and felt better to use,

Never heard anything from the brand, wouldn't buy simply because of the name.

Never heard anything from the brand, wouldn't buy simply because of the name. It's a bad name but not as bad as Von Gaylord. About the only brand name worse than that is Amstrad.

Fun things, slightly flawed but musical and great value for the outlay

I had a modi 3, for the money it was fantastic. Well made and with a decent power supply even better, also very repairable if that matters to you.

When I was trying a starting desktop headphone rig, the Modi Multibit DAC sounded better to me than the ifi Zen, Topping E30, JDS Labs Atom. That's all at a particular pricing tier and I ended up deciding the headphone format doesn't work for me. Since I'd always rated the sound of Theta DACs back in the day, I've been curious about the Yggdrasil DAC for some time but not had a listen.

Is their a connection between Schit and Theta ? One of Schiit's principals was Theta's key designer in the 90's.

Here's an interesting article from 1992 interviewing Mike Moffat (Theta) on their approach to digital.
