One swallow doesn't make a summer, but I stick to my prediction that CD will come back as a niche market to rival the vinyl one.

Our takings in my Oxfam have gone up to between £160 and £200 a week for second hand cd sales. Really good demand for them and values are going up just like vinyl has

I volunteer Saturdays in a Cancer Research charity shop. We gave up selling music and video media a few years ago as a poor return on the space required.
Oxfam is known as a quality music seller, and even has specialist music&book stores. So they tend to get decent stuff donated. Other charities tend to get scuffed up Max Bygraves, Mrs Mills, and Val Doonican. Not a lot of resale mileage in those. And we have to pay the council to take them away when they don't sell.
Having said that, a few months ago we restarted with vinyl in a couple of cardboard boxes. Maybe £20 a week from that.

Yep, we still get the Max Bygraves and others. What breaks my heart is all the great classical music we get that nobody buys. We sell higher value vinyl online, say above £50 but the £5-£10 classical does not sell, even if it has a value many times that. Classical cds do not sell at all even if we do 3 for £1. Good your vinyl box is doing well. Is it on a shelf, I get lots of complementary comments about ours being displayed at hand height…. From blokes of a certain age who would prefer not to bend, in case they can’t get back up. Know the feeling 😁

Most of our vinyl customers are used to the boxes on the floor! But of late I have noticed some 20s ish folks, male and female, are now taking an interest and buying LPs. It's not just old blokes anymore.

In my local record shop the youngsters outnumber the oldies about 5 to 1.
They're all buying proper music too, not modern stuff. Although maybe they get that elsewhere.
One behind me in the queue with his wife (he didn't look old enough to be shaving, never mind married).
I let him go in front of me as he was after a particular RSD release for his sister. He asked me if I was not after any of the vinyl myself, told him I gave up on that years ago. He looked at me like I was a bit crazy. But he'll learn...
