No forum would be complete without a question like that each year Phil I've been in a smooth and joyous period of no messing or meddling for a while now, and very happy, as system has never sounded better, so it's thankfully been music, music, music - the whole point of the thing. Curiosity obviously abounds in this game and because I've been so thrilled with my Plinius 9200 integrated amp, I'd love to hear it's current guise, the Hautonga at some point along the journey as the Hautonga is effectively a revised/'improved' 9200. Cannot seem to find anything from anyone who has experience of both / gone from the 9200 to the Hautonga so may have to find out for myself - one day, otherwise, no immediate plans for 2024 other than to keep on enjoying what I have.

Anyone got any plans to upsidegrade hifi this year ? Oh. Probably. Yes, I think it's quite likely. But... Plans. Good lord, no. These things just happen on the spur of the moment. 😂

This year, quite possibly moving abroad but no more than 18 months.
Equipment wise, new speakers Tad GE-1's (containers has docked now I've been told today), new digital transport N30SA, plus my new 250Wrms @8ohm PWM amplifier.
More holidays for sure plus some teaching work is planned as well.
Wishing everyone a really great 2024

N9t sure what will happen hifi wise this year, it all depends on Mum and her illnesses, but think the family will be lucky if she goes beyond the end of March.
Short term plans: take delivery of my new faceted Walnut Solid Sounds 401 plinth with my Bronze Jelco 750D fitted, he's also making me a fitted travel case for it, and a matching cover for my Audiolab 6000CDT. Once it's here I will have a play with the carts I've accumulated (Cadenza Blue, Hana ML, Benz Ace S, H). The rest of the kit will stay as is.
Long-term: Sell up where I am, don't really need a 4 bed detached Edwardian villa with a huge garden to myself, also needs mega £££s spent to bring it into the 21st century. Once this is sorted I will look for a 2 bed detached bungalow (somewhere up the arsehole of beyond if possible) and get someone to knock it about to give me a music room with accommodation. Should have a damn good drink left over so may treat myself to some hifi toys, Innuos Statement Next Gen, and 845 integrated and better speakers. Then again I may stick with what I have, as the sound I have now is nothing to be sniffed at, I'm definitely not slumming it with system 1 or 2.

That's not to shabby the Innuos Statement Next Gen, I had one traded in just before Xmas quite listenable in fact, just a shame its usb, but then so are a lot of those type of products! Quite like 845's/ 211's more meat on the bone style of valve presentation gives you more scope for proper speakers then

With demands on pension incomes pulling in other directions I’ll have to be very reliant on fund raising through disposal for future upgrades or changes. Luckily the vinyl market continues to boom and I’ve got a load of records just remaining ornaments really. Tempted to change digital streamer ( from an SOtM 200 neo ultra) and am seduced by the hype surrounding the Eversolo dmp A8, or the Denafrips Arce. I really like the fact that with kit such as Eversolo you can stream Qobuz directly rather than though Roon. That’ll save me an annual subscription. Apart from that I really need to get some Townshend bars again. Oliver brought his over and the improvements were obvious.

The Arce doesn't do native streaming services, only Roon

The other thing I’m not sure about is using the Mutec with Eversolo. I’m guessing I’d have to use usb? Something to explore.

I did have a plan to rent the house next door and move all my crap in there whilst mine is stripped to the brick and totally refurbished. But the bloke living there now has just signed on to do a 3 year masters degree so that's all on hold until he finishes that and moves out.
I want some end game speakers but since they will inevitably be big and stupidly heavy, I'm not going to get them prior to doing the refurb.
So will just carry on buying the odd bit of kit on a whim.
Possibility the company I work for will be sold towards the end of this year, so don't know if I will still have a job there. If redundancy happens then I will go back into retirement, at least over the winter months, which means all non-essential spending will stop.

wow thats horrible macca . real pain trying to find jobs now there's usually a shortage of people with my particular set of skills - so I've never had trouble getting work in any economy. But the place I'm at now is very handy, within walking distance so I'd rather not have to change. But if I watch the pennies I don't really need to work, so I'm not under any pressure to get another job. Pets At Home warehouse is just round the corner, you can do hours to suit there. Might consider doing 3 hours a day there just wandering round putting boxes in roll cages. 9 to 12 be back in the house for 1215.

Mostly hoping to work on tweaks and optimisation of the current setup. Really happy with the 'cake' as is, so perhaps some icing, decoration and a few cherries!
Very happy with current Purifi amp, which is still a surprise to me. I'm sure there is much better out there and I'll certainly be happy to change/upgrade if a better amp (not too pricey) presents itself. Oli has mentioned a Krell could work, but yet to hear one. In the meantime, I may just tweak my Purifi a little.
Other than that, maybe a better tonearm cable.
Also, want to add a few large canvases (with Rockwool inside) to the room. I reckon echo/reflection could be reduced a tad around the listening area. Oh, and about 3 or 4 decent plants to act as diffusers.

Have a few ideas of what I will do this year. A small one is to mount my PI/DAC streamer in a better chassis with a 7 or 11 inch touch screen and turn my garage into a proper workshop for wood and metal working (getting ready for when I retire - watch out Jason..... not).

It's funny, i didn't have any plans lol
However it is now apparent that a full rebuild is underway!
Strange isn't it. I literally had no plans ... then had a sudden urge to sell everything.

It's what I did, no regrets here. Mind you I kept my speakers but they aren't easily replaced and I've no reason to get rid of them anyway.

I'll fit the bass inductors I've had sat round for ns1000m for three years and finish the rebuild of my quad 63s. Bought them as a project I have no intentions of using them. I just wanted to build a set for the tick list

I would like to get a new Dac, as soon as I can find one that has the connections I want (one analogue in and i2S), but am quite happy at the moment
