Thats my thinking and what I'm led to believe, although some think it doesnt matter, fair enough. Behind my rack is not exactly a rats nest BUT I'm so aware cables are all too close to each other, some touching a bit and it bugs my OCD nature so I'll address, somehow, one day, when time permits. It's not so much some think it doesn't matter, but it's situation-dependant. Bear in mind the cables have to be almost touching for there to be even a chance for any interference to happen. An inch apart or cross them at 90 degrees is plenty good enough. Indeed, situation dependant it may be but some people do think it doesnt matter, not that that matters but some people do think it doesnt,as in not fussed about it.

My mains cables don't have a shield. I have never written about it due to the absolutely upheld belief that mains cables should be shielded, and the subsequent furore that would follow. A belief i shared until recently i must say. The other reason for not sharing is that i am aware that most people don't have Carte Blanche in their listening space and may not be able to do what i have done, which is to completely separate the mains from any signal cable. All of my cabling is only just long enough to make the link it needs to. RCAs, mains, digital...They don't get near each other, except for the DAC mains and the DAC Rca-Preamp link, but they cross at 90 degrees and still have space between them. It works really well, but the reason to abandon the shield is due to a reduction in dynamics. I didn't believe it until i tried it, but now i am absolutely convinced of the result. I'll buy all that. So what are you favouring for amplifier mains these days? The AC-3003 seems possibly a little small for that application. I am using the Acoustic Revive AC-Triple C4800 on the 686, BT2 and the Shuko distribution block at the minute. It has 3x 2.5mm2 conductors and is unshielded. I am using the SAEC 3003 on the DAC, and would be using it on the streamer and Mutec but for the fact i now don't have enough. Bloody Aqvox lol I don't believe you need anything more in terms of CS area. We got hold of a mega expensive 6mm2 PC-CCC mains cable. We put it on the 686 and it absolutely stunk the place out. It was bettered by a standard kettle lead, no joke. The kettle lead was seen off by the 2.5mm AC-Triple C4800 in dramatic style, as was the Supra cable and Belden cable we had on hand too. I don't expect anyone to believe me, but there was two of us there and we both agreed on what we heard. That was good enough for me to go full PC-TRIPLE C on the mains too

3003 arrived today from Zenmarket. I plan to make a couple of identical power cords, one for the Plinius Integrated which is 200wpc @ 8 ohms so powerful and deserves a try out with a better cord than the bog standard kettle in it currently.
My simple thinking is that Triple C is better than the lower quality copper stuf in the bog standard kettle, liquorice cable current connected to it, it will also have the best IeGO IEC I can get my hands on the end.
The other will replace the boggo kettle on the Vida Prima Phono stage - Will report back whenever I get to it, not sure when that will be, and after it's had some time in situe.
This will be part of what I hope will be more 'final' system stuf, so Triple C cable related and cable/power lead tidy, management.

I worked in shipping for over 40 years and at no time was anyone's NI number ever requested or needed . I would be very wary of giving out that number it makes identity theft very easy indeed . HRMC do not use it for duty and VAT reasons .

just picked this unusual turntable mat up from Japan. Its an Audio Technica AT665BX,the Platter weight takes batteries and when pressed it sucks the air out and causes a vacuum which keeps the record flat to the mat.

Nice one Jamie, and an interesting find, a flat record is a joy IMHO, be really interesting to hear your feedback regards how it sounds, as mats tend to have a sound, to varying degree, once you've had some time with it. Obviously you'll have to re-dial in the cart/stylus, vta, arm height etc in consideration of this mat and change in thickness. And that's always the important thing, re-setting, dial-in, alignment will have to be right, otherwise evaluation is flawed.

Yep agree, I don’t know what the mats made of, it appears to have a suede type finish . Audio technica do some really good gear which seems to be under the radar over here.

These will be winging their way to me in the next week or so: They are made from a copper conductor I have wanted to try for a while now. No idea what to expect, but I'll let you all know as usual.
