Just years ago, I bought my first new system, since 1998, and have added a few bits since, namely adding the Amphion Argon 3LS, then the PS dac/pre and finally a pair of PS M700 mono power amps Attachment Deleted Also added a Rel S8/12 and TQ speaker cables to the mix. new speakers next I think

Buy the big Heco speakers in the classifieds and you can sell the sub!

further to my post in this thread and another one, I have decided it to be prudent (due to a couple of personal changes) to go with a new sub

peterthebutcher Another sub or changing the current one? I am currently developing some speaker's based on well respected designs (well known driver combinations). The drivers will be well known and extremely good (used in retail speakers costing £5—10k and much more). Crossover components will be extremely good when compared to retail speakers up to £10-20k and more. Cabinets will be handmade to high quality and customisable to a degree. Initial speakers will be a small standmount and slimline floorstander. I am currently building demo standmounts and demo floorstanders will follow in the autumn. From my experience bespoke/'boutique' speakers will compete at a level well above their cost. Obviously, people can decide for themselves when they hear the demo speakers - the proof, after all, is in the pudding! Around 4 people have already expressed an interest. More details to follow on this forum.

back end of last year I splashed out on the Rel S8/12 sub. This past couple of months have had the itch for a new set of speakers (floor standers), I listen and have 100's of Pipe Organ recordings ( CD<, DAT and MD) so was looking for a speaker that COULD give that style of music a faithful reproduction, I came very close on getting a pair of Kerr K320's (TL Design). But due to a few recent personal things, I took the decision not to spend 4-8K on new speakers, when I have decent ones already, and to go with another Rel S8/12 sub, making a stereo pair and connected to the newish PS mono bloc amps

Let us know how it is with 2! 👍

The sound is (to me anyway) much more pronounced in the bass and mid bass, Certain recordings (Organ) that were deemed as bass light, have seemingly been renewed in that dept. And have listened to a lot of tracks, and found they have been seemingly renewed as well. The RelS 8/12 were setup by Martin from Analogue seduction, and he did a fine job, dialled them in properly, and the bass seems to emanate from the main speakers, as it should and the gain and X overs do not sound over blown/loud. Yes, it was a big outlay for me, but in the grand scheme of things, it was worth it in the end

That's a serious sub you've got there.

I hope to build a second sub in the next year or two... Maybe bigger speakers too... It never ends! 😂
