I have never bothered cleaning contacts on anything on my HiFi. The question is, should I?
For example, is there any benefit from cleaning valve pins?

Definitely clean contacts. Deoxit is a two edged sword though. Some contacts sound great when treated, others one has to wipe on and then wipe off or it is too much. Some say the residue left will not age well. I don't really know for sure about the last assertion but can attest to the first two. You might try 100% IPA as a certainly safe alternative.

I use the Dp5 and in my experience it’s better than the normal D5 version. I clean almost every plug and connectors and the difference is really audible.

I use a chrome cleaner. Works perfectly and doesn't cost deoxit money.

Only yesterday I was reading on another forum about Deoxit, someone said "ruined the sound of his system", had to clean it all off. Someone else recommended Servisol.
