Found this in the attic..... Think maybe the plumber dropped it when fitting the outlet pipe for the shower fan a few weeks ago. Don't think he'll miss it mind you, not with how much my en-suite, bathroom and toilet refurbs cost. I'll send my wife back up there later to see if there's any more ๐

had a interesting experience having a ct scan today with contrast injected . i was a bit nervous when she said you might feel like you want to wet yourself !!! a friend had one recently and said you got a hot flush with metallic taste in the mouth but never got that . absolutely charming couple of ladies looked after me . very impressed .. mind you at 800 quid it should be good !!

Today has been a bit of a trial. Ten days ago I sold an Opera Consonance Linear 2.2 CD player and thought all was fine as I heard nothing from the buyer. At the middle of last week saying he had been busy at work and didn't have the time to play with his new toy. After powering it up and put a CD in he says it played for around 45 seconds it then stopped completely and he could not power it up again, so I asked him to check with another known good power lead, but I got no reply back. Next thing I know is he has opened a return with ebay. I knew very well that the player was working fine when it left me and I chose UPS to deliver it as at least they seem to care about their parcels, so I knew by the fact that it worked "for 45 seconds" it hadn't got damaged in transit.
So, I organised a courier collection and it arrived today. Plugged it in and worked perfectly - just as I suspected. I wanted to pop the cover off to check inside, but I couldn't work out how to get the cover off, despite loosening 4 screws either side. I turned the bloody thing every which way looking for more screws but I couldn't find any. After nearly an hour I decided to email our illustrious MisterC for his advice and he made a few suggestions which I had already looked into. "Get a grip man" I said to myself and saw instead of just looking and found there were plastic covers over the screws. DOH!
Any road up, this player has been running for nearly 8 hours now without missing a beat, so I am as confident now as I was before I shipped it there is nothing at all wrong with the player.
He claims now he tried FOUR different power leads with no change and he isn't really interested in having it back. He cannot have a refund because I blew the cash on another pre amp and the old piggy bank is empty right now.
Mighty pissed off at the moment, because this is on top of the ongoing dramas with BMC Audio so I am not sleeping too well at the moment :-(

If you have to, and my advise is to act fast and counter him, firstly by messaging and telling him exactly what you've told us, ie: on receiving the player back you have you have found it to be in perfect functioning/playing order, no fault whatsoever, playing ande functioning perfectly, a1 as sent,, playing fine without issue, and that he is more than welcome to see it in action. Ebay look at communication and will see what you've said, and as a record to your benefit. Coupled with this, go to the resolution centre and complain about him, that he is clearly not being genuine and say that buyers like this are very bad for the eBay community and reputation, I have done this myself. What can and might happen is they will refund him directly and not from you. The sooner you get to it the better otherwise they will focus on his return case and follow it through by refunding from you. I sincerely wish you all the best with this.

The problem is the guy isn't listening to what I tell him. His latest response is that he paid a lot of money for a CD player that works, not one that lasted for only 45 seconds.
If he did read what I wrote to him, I clearly stated no less than three times that all I did was connect it up and it worked perfectly without me doing anything else to it.
I am going to get in touch with ebay tomorrow and see what their take is on the subject. I am not very optimistic they will see the pure logic and simple common sense to be honest.

Don't think there is much you can do, I would be thankful you have the player back in working condition, rather than he'd tampered with it. Put it up for sale again and hope it sells quickly.

I have filled out the form for complaints against buyers: Reason: Returned an item after they opened, used or damaged itComments:I sold this item in good condition and perfect working order. The buyer connected the player and said after 45 seconds it powered off and he could not power it up again. I wrote and advised him to use another power cord as I did not believe the player was faulty. Without a reply he then wants to return the item as faulty. It returned to me yesterday and I did no more than connect it with the power cord I supplied in the box. It came on immediately and has been playing perfectly on non-stop playback ever since, as I suspected it would. He claims now to have tried 4 different power cords, but if they have the wrong value fuse fitted, then of course the CD player will not power up. As a seller I cannot be held responsible if a buyer does not use the item as it should be with all components that I have supplied, nor in an environment where I have no control whatsoever, or used by someone who has no knowledge of electronics. I have offered to return the item but the buyer has not changed his mind and I feel aggreived that he is being uncooperative, especially so when this issue is entirely his fault. Our exchanges can be viewed in our messages.
I would rather have spoken to someone than just type a message, because the return process is still active.

I might be wrong but under the long distance selling laws a buyer can return something within 14 days even if thereโs nothing wrong with it.

Had this a couple of years ago with a cart, even had a vid and photos from packing it. Following 2 weeks with no response from buyer, he opens a returns saying item faulty, eBay accepts return request, sends him a postage label. Cart turns up a few days later, I make a vid of the unpacking showing he'd sent back a different serial No cart with a snapped of cantilever. Even though I could prove I didn't get back what I'd sent the buyer eBay still took the refund from my PayPal account putting me into negative funds. Despite phonecalls with eBay CS and emails to them and PP it took 18 months to resolve. Their (eBay) attitude is, the buyer is always right!! They only relented when they received a solicitors letter notifying them of imminent court action, got my money + legal costs back from them. Unfortunately they have got so big now that they believe they can bully people into submission, it's only when they come across someone with backbone that they back down.

very stressed today . Got 4 weeks left to finish renovation for a relative of a retirement flat . With the retirement company its a longwinded process to get permission for any alterations and as you know booking tradesmen is sometimes slow . So found out today that one of the tradesperson has not submitted their insurance holding everything up. Not book when you are on a tight schedule !!!

Well done John, I hate bullies. Good job you had photographic evidence. Speaking of which, could you not have also gone after the tosser who tried to dump his crappy broken cart on you? It must be theft, or fraud, or something. What are the alternatives these days, when it comes to selling? I know you can advertise on here and other fora, but if you want to reach as many potential buyers as possible, good to have other options too.

.... took Albie, one of our cats, for a post op checkup. He'd been attacked by a dog a few weeks ago and come off the worst of the fracas. Bad open back leg wound. But it's coming along well and hopefully the stitches come out next Monday.
I could have had a seriously good amp upgrade for what the little fella has cost!

misterc Hope you are feeling ok tomorrow, take it easy tonight. jandl100 Sorry to hear about your cat, I know how expensive it is for vet bills. One of my cats got attacked by my next door neighbours mastiff, dragged the owner across the road, he was hanging on to the lead, but it was if he wasn't there. I honestly thought my cat was dead, but took her to the vet and my neighbour promised to pay the bill, unfortunately when that came, I managed to get about 50% of it from them.

Vet bills are stupidity now, that's another good reason not to have another pet.
Today I messed with Oli's Aqvox Dac...
As good as it is it's another confirmation that switch mode power supplies have no place in small signal hi-fi equipment. As much as the internal SMPS has additional measures to make it 'quieter' plus extra LC filtering on the main pcb it's just not up to the job.
A definite uplift in performance being supplied with clean power from external Linear PSU's.
