I had 2 years working from home so that sort of got me used to being at home all day. And the last three months at work I didn't have much to do. So that's eased me into it a bit. But I've been working in some capacity since I was 17. Even when I was a student I had jobs. So it's still a bit weird. I used to go out working with my Dad during school holidays from about the age of 13, started working full time at 17 and retired at 51, about 3 years earlier than planned due to a family emergency. Although I would consider I had a good work ethic, never late for work once in 34 yrs, always felt there was more to life than work. Now back in the uk, I do occasionally go and unload cars from the ship, did 6 hrs yesterday but it has been 3 weeks since I last went due to a quiet spell ( Covid's to blame ) and I treat it as a day out.

I couldn't afford anything at Cranage even when I was working. I do like going to that one though. Same here. But I think the trick is to look like you might buy something. And we'll see how much free stuff we can acquire. Only kidding exhibitors, I really might buy something. we'll take one of those folding hand-trucks along. You distract the exhibitor by asking him about cables or something and I'll nip out through the fire doors with a set of speakers.

Used to be like that for me when I did security. I'd just get called to do the occasional gig and it was like a night out but you got paid plus a rider. Then it started getting more and more often until it was three nights a week. That culminated in doing an 'Indie night' with 5 bands one after the other. Was supposed to be a four hour event finishing at 2300 as they were meant to share most of the kit like the drums and monitors to speed up the change-over. But on the night it was all 'Eww we're not using their drums' so there was a get-in and get-out between every band. Ended up the last band went on at two in the morning, I didn't get out until 0330 and then I had a 5 mile walk home. In the rain. Packed it in after that.

This evening I am watching new tricks when an almighty bang happened by the whole house bathed in brilliant white light closely followed by a massive clap of thunder. Then another massive rolling thunder sound.
All the lights in the jouse are fine, the other half informs me that the curtain in our bedroom blew open and the TV sort of went phut
Upon investigation it transpires that the property 300 yards directly behind us had its tv Aries vaporised and a large hole blown in roof.
Just goes to show how powerful mother nature is!

Nearly pulled the trigger on the guys vitus amps. But then thought it a bit steep asking for £10 postage on £79,000 asking price. 🤪

I wish! If I came home with those I'd find myself homeless. And 20k poorer. With a hernia. Just as well they're big enough to live inside

I redecorated and modernised my detached 4 bed Edwardian house from top to bottom in 2016. Never again will I spend weeks clearing up after builders and waving a paintbrush. The next time it gets decorated will be with a bloody bulldozer, when I sell it as a building plot.

Today I got up early, cleaned the pool, cut the grass and did a few other odd jobs around the house, and retired indoors quickly, ready for the 35 degree heat they have announced for later.

Hot weather's nice when sat under a parasol with a cold beer and nowhere else you need to be. Not so nice when half a ton of bricks want moving from here to over there.

Today at around 14:30, I gave up on sweating my cobs off whilst trying to enjoy my tunes. I closed the blinds and put the pedestal fan on, something I will be doing everyday for the next few months whilst this offensive heat is in evidence. Hurry up Winter, so we can get back to sensible temperatures.

Don't wish away summer John, I for one certainly don't want to go back to short days, trees bare of leaves, and the cold and damp weather. I won't be putting my fan on until it gets a damn site warmer here than it has been today.

I hate the Summer, well the temperature anyway. I'm no good to man nor beast when it's hot, I just wilt. Mid May through to mid September I spend as little time as possible outside during the day, preferring to hide indoors with curtains pulled and fans going. Pre 9am & after 7pm is not to bad as things have usually calmed down, but daytime, no thankyou.
