Arguments about what is, and what is not a 'cult film' are about as dull and pointless as arguments about what constitutes 'real prog' or 'real punk', but Magical Mystery Tour was shown at peak broadcasting time on a mainstream TV channel. I think some people are confusing 'cult' with 'a big bag of shite'. My own nominations are Mike Leigh's 'Naked' and 'Withnail and I'. You're missing the point. It was shown at peak viewing time (Christmas, I think) - and was panned by the critics and has had (very) few repeat viewings, compared to their others, as a result. For a particular group (student filmakers. Relevent, as it's the sort of thing a student filmaker might produce. What experience did the group have of producing a film themselves?) it's now seen as a "cult film" because of it's amateurishness. No need to argue. If something's been termed as a cult, that's what it's been termed as. By some, anyway.

This Lemon, so absolutely awful it deserves cult status. The only thing it has going for it is the sound track which is not half bad.

I know it ain't strictly a cult film but I think it's attaining the status of a more sinister film than it was. I want to add my favourite see scary musical. The Wizard Of Oz ! That is one deep and scary fucking filum and I love it. .. Ps . Lebowski is dog Sh#t, Frikan.

Not a cult fillum by any stretch of the imagination, but last night I watched Quatermass and the Pit on DVD. Shame it was made on a cheapskate budget by Hammer as the strings pulling electric cables around did make it rather amateurish. Could have been done much better with a few more quid chucked at it.

That's a great film. Really creepy. I think the weird colour processing all Hammer films had back then adds to the creepiness.

Saw Wizard of Oz the first time it was ever on the telly. Four years old I think I was. Freaked me out, I couldn't even watch it again until many years later.

Anything by Ed Wood just has to be a cult classic, to become a classic and have a cult following it just has to be bloody awful like an LP12 for instance. The Golem 1920.

the 1973 the wicker mans on tonight, film 4 On of my neighbours in Cyprus had the Whicker Man’s legs in their garden. I kid you not. They were apparently going to rot away or end up over the cliff so they took them to save them and covered them in GRP.

The cabinet of Dr Caligari is one of my fave films ever. Just for the scenery. Eraserhead is boring , sorry - every pretentious person in the world who champions it, and Pshycho is noir what I'd call a cult film , seeing as everybody in the world has seen it and fallen asleep during it. .

I presume after listening to The Fall you find very little disturbing?
