They're a great cart, more analytical than the ortofons they like quite a high loading.

I remember reading 100 Ohm was the correct setting, have also read 1000 was preferred by someone else, take your pick

A lot of people find Lyra bright, however with the right set up and deck they give a really quality sound

I've sold 3 Paradises to lyra owners, all loaded in the 2-400 ohm range. 270r and slightly arse down sounded best to me.

I've done some digging into the Lyra and it appears that once upon a time it sported a Boron Cantilever. I knew it had been to ESCO for a retip, but looks like they didn't only change the stylus. Shame. The cartridge is now setup correctly and seems to be settling nicely. I am actually rather enjoying this. I need to find some sort of replacement tape for the bottom of the cart. Any suggestions are welcome. Some Lyra Porn:

For the tape use the sticky paper/gauze tape that hospitals use on dressings readily available from chemist's.

I've got some Kapton tape that might be suitable. It's dark to medium brown.

Thank you lurch I have been wracking my brain as to what it looks like and you're right. firebottle how sticky is it? I need to be careful not to use something that is hard to remove.

Mmm.. I had an Argo once. I wouldn’t describe the covering as tape. More gossamer tissue.. very thin stuff.

Micropore 😉
But the sticky stuff might gather dust

In my line of work, I would have to use “high speed tape”.

probably a daft question but what does this tape actually do? Or is it just cosmetic?

I don’t know why people are buying half finished carts. 😉

I don’t know why people are buying half finished carts. 😉 It's not a half finished cartridge, it would work perfectly well without the protective tape, that's only there to help keep the dust from getting in.
