If I was rich I'd be keeping my gob shut about it.
You'll soon have people breaking your balls trying to get a handout otherwise.
Swear if I won 100 million on euro lottery I would not tell a soul. Not even close family.
Anytime anyone asks me how I'm doing for money I just say I'm getting by. Doesn't matter if I'm down to my last penny (which I have been) or making it faster than I can spend it (which I have also been).

Straight from the heart answers would be much appreciated. Thank you. 1. Why on earth would anyone with half a functioning brain care what some other bloke claims on a forum? 2. Why do feel it is so important to you personally, because you are the one making it personal; to call someone out to prove what I can only deduce is some personal agenda you may or may not have? 3. Why do you feel the need to repeat your self over and over on everything you post about your personal life? 4. Why should anybody who is emotionally mature, sufficiently intelligent, and secure enough; care how nice your house is, how great a dad you are, how many cars and bikes you have, how much your arm costs, how much money you have, the fact that you are mortgage free etc etc.? 5. Why are you on an audio forum when you never contribute anything about audio, no reviews no impressions of the equipment you have had, in fact nothing that would be of interest to a serious Audiophile? 6. Why do you feel the need to always make your point and regard the views of others as totally irrelevant to you? 7. Why do you always feel the need to criticise the life style choices of others, as we all live in a free society, and all are free to make our own choices? These are questions you need to answer, and not meaning to disrespect you in anyway; my impression of you is that you come across as a very insecure rather tiresome bloke.

The richest people are so disinterested in their own wealth that they rarely mention it. It is the high flying wannabe million/billionaires that are the most annoying, who talk all the time about being rich... they are the most annoying types!
I am not rich, but I am equally not poor. I am about in the middle and due to my health, I won't be getting any richer anytime soon.

I suppose we're what you might describe as comfortably off which, considering how bone idle I am, is quite an achievement.
Our house, though not that large, has working servant's bells in the main rooms, and a box in the kitchen with little tags with room names on that wiggle when someone presses the relevant bell. Unfortunately there are no servants to answer the call. The elderly couple who used to live across the road (both sadly deceased) could remember when our house was owned by an old lady who still had a maidservant, who was almost as old as her.

I fear that pictures of my systems would cause you acute distress, given the amount of clutter and dust on display. Personally, when people post system pictures, I'm far more interested in what's on their bookshelves. If no books are visible, but a large TV is, I draw the obvious conclusions.

You're right, I think we should all post pictures to prove what we have. I'll go first. Here's my car: And here's my money. (There was too much for me to get it all in shot, but you get the general idea):

Swear if I won 100 million on euro lottery I would not tell a soul. Not even close family. I do sometimes ponder this (though never actually buy a lottery ticket). I'd probably give most of it away, but anonymously. That way I could feel even smugger about how generous I was being.

Especially family. If i did have a big enough win that would allow me to retire i would tell no one, in fact i would act & spend just the same as i do now so no one would know any difference..

What would be the point of winning all that disposable income in the first instance If you were not intending to spend such winnings whilst still fit and able to do so? you might as well donate it to charitable causes.

Because Money is the biggest form of worry in life. You can loose everything just like that. Exactly what i did years ago. Went from Rich to not rich over night. If i know there is wads of Money in that bank i can have a great life knowing so. One thing is for sure. All my money will go to Cats & not my family..
Can i ask you what you feel the difference in owning a Vauxhall 'Corsa' is to owning an Aston Martin ? apart from spending stupid amounts of money for something that will serve my needs as much as the cheaper car does.. This is the main problem with rich people. Do not buy what you do not need i say.

. All my money will go to Cats & not my family.. That's a good idea, think I'll do that as well. Cats are way more deserving than people.

Several people on here seem to hate their families and intend to leave their money to cats and dogs. Personally, I get on well with my family. Anything I leave will go to my wife and children.
On the wider issue, I think there's a point at which you're free from money worries (can pay all bills; have enough spare if the boiler or car or roof need replacing; can afford to go on holiday when you want to). Below that level, lack of money is a problem. Above that level, more money probably won't make you any happier. Not that I'd refuse to accept a shedload of money if I won the lottery, but as I said upthread, I'd give most of it away.

More Money doe not make you happy, You are right. Plenty money just takes away any financial stress & alows you to buy what you want when you want without saving up like kids do..

I don't hate my family but they aren't short of money. I could leave it to my nieces and nephews but don't think it is good thing for youngsters to get free money. A man should have to struggle in life, at least for a while. You don't learn anything about people or the world if you don't have to struggle.

nope things dont bring happiness at all..ok for a short while living a nice easy life off your own back..not living off the back of someone else and not having to slave away every fekin day.
owing nothing to anyone is an awesome place to be...having tons of debts just means you're slaving away for someone else every day

The difference between a Corsa and a Aston Martin would be obvious once you drove them. If I won enough money I would certainly buy a 'nice car', not necessary an Aston, I'm sure they are too low for ease of getting in and out. Now your comment regarding rich people really annoys me. Rich people have a responsibility to spend, putting money back into the economy, the trouble is, many are not spending enough, or spending it abroad.

Rich folk are like anybody else, why should they be accountable for where they spend their money or on what. If anybody asked me to explain what I do with my money, they'd be told to f*ck off.

Responsibility was probably the wrong word to use, I would never tell anyone how to spend their money. If everyone hoarded their money the economy would just grind to a halt. People need to spend just to keep the system turning. So I would hope rich people would put back more than those not so well off.

Uh! When you are a millionaire you dont have a million pounds there in your home so no one else can use it. Apart from being a stupid idea its in the bank.. Its is still being used by your bank you know. The economy cannot grind to a halt cos millionaires are not spending money. Nothing changes.

I know a couple of people with that kind of money and they spend like drunken sailors on their last night ashore so I wouldn't worry too much.
