I always fancied a Sugden A21A but they were £500 and I didn't have £5 at the time. But I thought what the hell, in a few years time I'll have the cash to get one. About 10 years ago I had a bit more cash and thought I might buy one - but they'd gone up to £2 grand! Now I think they are almost £4K There's something really depressing about that. Although I'm older and wiser now and know they are nothing particularly special. They have very good resolution but I think Shane summed them up well when he said they had no sense of humour. I admire the A21a bit it’s not lovable if atht makes sense. Also the SE is better in every way. Now atht is an amp I could live with long term.

Wouldnt buy Naim, Linn, Chord, Sugden, and prob a few others....if the fukers halfed their price. Why ? Because it would still be a fukin rip off. One of my biggest WTF moments was seeing the Chord Red Reference CD player. It was something like £7500 and was a very pretty but almost empty box.

I don’t expect the Nait 2 to hold a candle to the Claymore, let alone the Campion, but it sure will be fun knowing for sure. I have a cunning long term plan too. I really fancy a Nait 1 as a collectors piece. If I get the Nait 2 at a decent price, I will offer a swap plus cash my way for a Nait 1.

You must be thinking of the flatcap as well. Tumbleweed in there i think. What year did nait 1 cease to be produced ?

Don't forget the Nait 1 has a rather odd balance control.

I just want one as an “objet d’art”. Not often you get expressions like that on a hifi forum, eh?

One channel through a fixed resistor and the other a variable one adjusted round it.

I want to find a *very cheap* Linn LK2-75 (not the ghastly 280) and to restore it, just in case I ever have 'briks again, or even SBL mk2's.. If I needed to flog it later, it'd go with the LK1 i successfully restored.. The 2-75 had air and space missing in both the original LK2 (60WPC) and the grainy forced sounding 280. having said that, the Klout is supposedly a deluxe 280 circuit, but it always sounded less forced and later on, the 'grain' went too, but these still fetch several hundred quid when I want to spend a ton or less!
