I will do but I only have SR80s so it’s not go8ng to be a greatly revealing test to me. I’m used to using RS2e. I did briefly use the SR80s with an Arcam Alpha amp and it was very blurry compared to the Schiit and RS2s. Right now I’m listening in astonisment to an OC9 cart I have just installed. Boy does it ssound good through the Sedley. Better than I’ve heard an OC9. Bare in mind that Grado's are quite easy to power. Through the Asgard. Do use use gain on high/low? S. I needed high. Not really enough on low for me

Headphone amp is wonderful! As clear as I recall the Asgard being but weightier and good from cold. Not missing my RS2es or Asgard any more

It really is a blast with headphones. I would’ve listened for longer, but Grados aren’t the most comfortable things, even with diughnut EarPods.

It’s sounding great in the 2nd system. Only thing stopping me using it more is that I don’t really like the room it’s in. I hope you get the chance to try one someday. I reckon you’d really warm to it.

I know you’re short of an amp right now, Shane. If you wanted to borrow the Claymore for a few weeks, I could always send it to you. It definitely won’t be up for sale though, so if you like it, you will have to find another one. I waited 32 years for that one lol. Only way I’d even think of selling it is if a white one or blue one came my way. Even then I’d probs keep both!

£2k buys you a helluva lot on the used market.

By the end of the year I might look into getting an original model. What are their going rates now?

I think it’s a bit more “round Earth”. I will, know more when I actually AB compare them, but it is a warmer sounding amp and it doesn’t harden when turned up. It’s just as weighty and dynamic and I’d probably say it sounds as though it has more power. If they had regional accents, the Claymore would be “West Country” whereas the Exposure would be Glaswegian

I thought it might be a bit “offbeat” so I’m glad it worked for you

As soon as I reached to the part where he applies some mods, I stopped reading!

As soon as I reached to the part where he applies some mods, I stopped reading! S. I have to agree. Write a review on it as standard then describe the mods after. What do like is that I've never read a bad review about EWA amplifiers. I really wanted that monster one Colin was selling recently but I need a small lottery win

If I made amps that has been tuned to give a certain presentation. Then some fuckwit comes along and thinks it can be improved upon, that will be a big insult to me. The amp is already very special in the first place and should be left alone, IMO.
Only a sympathetic service is all an amp needs at the end of the day, if it should fail operating.

If I could give this two thumbs up, I would. It reminds me of when they got Homer Simpson to use his “expertise” to tamper with a properly designed car.

Tinkering, Bodgering, Pimping ............Mmmmmmm🤔
I guess the more one feels the need to tamper with a product, the more flawed said product was to begin with.

Some people just need to change great stuff to make their mark though. It’s like the folk who buy a house and paint it a crazy colour or add a weird extension that upsets all the neighbours. It’s an ego thing, I feel. If the tweaker was so talented, they should have just built their own amp. In most cases they just read a few forum posts about boutique components then bodge them in. Suddenly they are a source of wisdom and very keen to “educate” others. An analogy is that they are still at stickle-bricks level whilst the likes of Colin are building mega-structures.

Never mind it was his point of view and that is OK with me we all have them. To be blunt I hate it when people F--K with your designs, as most time they are built for the sound at a price folk can afford. But it is good all of us are different, how boring life would be if we were all a Trump and a bully nothing would get made, as there would be no original thought, like many things we see today "a me to" design by marketing "Gods".

I agree and disagree.
There are parts that can usually be improved on.
Everything is built to a price, set by the manufacturer. Could Colin build the ultimate Claymore? Oh yes. But it's not gonna sell enough units due to the price!
Things like the volume pot can be improved on or altered to satisfy ones addiction to perceived upgrades. Rolling tubes is the same principle as rolling op amps. The sound can be tweaked to a preference.
When Jammy gets his Radford, I am sure there will be done valve Rolling? If already have a few sets of valves in preparation for it's arrival lol
Personally, if I love a bit of kit, I try to maximize its performance. It's no ego thing, just my enthusiasm to see if I can get any more from something that is worth investigating.
What you shouldn't do is claim some sort of credit or give it the bigun. Yes, totally agree that I play with stickle bricks while Colin is working with NASA.
One should know ones place.
