SOLDAqvox USB 2 D/A - DAC (mk1 version) with upgraded linear PSU -      - PCM 1794 chips - - Balanced XLR & single ended RCA outputs - - AES/EBU, USB, Toslink, Coax inputs - - Oversampling / Phase / Filter settings on front panel - - Headphone amplifier - - Free Postage anywhere in UK - - PayPal family & friends please - Heavily upgrade power supply (Pic 4 is new toroidal linear supply, Pic 5 is old SMPS supply). Work carried out by Mr Firebottle (Alan). Feet have been replaced with sorbothane type as original feet (included) are just flimsy plastic. Excellent condition throughout. Nowt wrong with it, it's super clean and deliveres transparancy and resolution like nothing I've ever heard in my system . . . but there may be an opportunity to grap something that I have on some authority been told, 'should' be a last DAC purchase . . . Could be wrong of course but sometimes you just have to find out don't you. . . . It could well be a live and learn scenario though . . . as we have seen recently  |

Apologies, I hate any 'teaser' sales but my plan has had to be put on hold and this DAC is too good to lose if I can't pull off the rest of the plan!

Could be back up for sale soon if some stars align for me.

BACK UP FOR SALE!!
After a prolonged listening session with my new Holo Spring 2 I need to move this on.
In all seriousness it actually has the Holo beaten in a couple of areas (and it's a tie on the majority of others) but the etheral presentation of the Holo is just completely addictive given my musical tastes.
Unfortunately I can't keep both.
All the hard work (PSU upgrade) has been done to this DAC.

I have a reference deisgn I did with 1794's about 15 years ago, we'll see how well these stack up to that before any internal re adjustment takes place.

I have a reference deisgn I did with 1794's about 15 years ago, we'll see how well these stack up to that before any internal re adjustment takes place. Burr-Brown PCM1796 in the Aqvox T....very interested to see what you find out. |

Oh pooh, they are mnot pin compatible either, big , big difference in sound with the 1794, would have to design a daughter board, but the these are board mounted smt humm rethink time?
So far psu top remove and replace, and 67 pieces to change and adjust that I can see so far, humm, may just remodel this see what's possible give the space. But lots of potential to be untapped even with the 1796. been working on a new i/v stage that i can just bypass and splice in might try that first, I feel.

Oli, that not an issue really, been they're done that, the issue is not pin compatioble, the first row number 1-14 are very different apart from the D ground, being honest eaiser to design another dac from scratch. But thats not the object of the excerise here.
I measure it first then I can see what is realistcally possible with it.depending on the result I may auction it off for Charity afterwards.
But not on fleabay lol
