6 mill is very thick cable you could run hundreds of feet with no loss. Don't count the thickness of the jacket it's just the actual diameter of the wire inside that matters.

As long as it isn't bellwire you will be fine at thirty or forty foot lengths.

As long as it isn't bellwire you will be fine at thirty or forty foot lengths. Good morning mate, Sorry for the delay - I’ve been sleeping. So could you please recommend cable I could run at 36 feet the longest and I’m assuming I should make both cables the same length? - Irrespective of there being 10 feet of difference in speaker placement. I’m not a tight ass but don’t want to spend thousands on speaker cable if possible. But obviously want to keep a decent quality of sound. Much appreciated 😊

Can you go under the floor, that is what I do Hi there I’m actually fortunate enough to be able to run the cable behind the skirting boards - as I’m renovating my living room. Thank you for your help.

I use some 1877Phono Zavfino speaker cable, can't recall the cross sectional area, I have a 3.5 and a 7.5m run with no problem.

Do you not recommend this cable? I don't recommend anything made by VD as it's just not very good stuff. I do understand you have long lengths of cable to run though. Makes it an expensive choice

Good call, I would avoid the "studio" series of VD cables and buy the "hi-fi" variant.

That Mogami covers all the bases. I would never advise spending a lot of money on speaker cable.

That Mogami covers all the bases. I would never advise spending a lot of money on speaker cable. That PC-Triple C stuff is £25 for a 1m length, + postage +VAT. I absolutely love that stuff and it's beaten anything i have thrown at it, but you only need to do the sums to see that it gets expensive quickly. Mogami have this knack of making wire that is almost as good as the good stuff for a lot less money.

I was talking about the stuff that costs hundreds, thousands and even tens of thousands per metre.

personally I absolutely cannot tell a difference between my fanciest and most expensive speaker cables and some unbranded 79 strand with its crappy ten pence banana plugs that I bought for a tenner second hand. Really, I have tried. So no FOMO for me.

Really, I have tried. So no FOMO for me. I can always hear a difference so I get a small amount of FOMO but I then do a reality check and transpose percieved improved SQ for pound notes. A large or marked improvement in SQ will see me part with the pound notes else they stay in the bank. I've changed speaker cables three times in over 20 years in one system, never in another, and I'll only be keeping one type of speaker cable in the third system as an experiment. I've never, ever, bought anything stupidly expensive i.e. > £30 per M.
