SOLD ELSEWHERE PENDING PAYMENT and COLLECTION, Ya Dancer!! 😁 Congrats Mikey. I really felt for you on having to bump this so many times over so many fora. I was very tempted as I know from the times we spoke how well this amp worked with the Berkeleys. As you know I took a similar journey as you with the Tannoys so I knew the Primaluna's had that magic. But having yet another amp would definitely have caused a massive disturbance in the WAF space-time continuum. But more importantly what will be driving your Berkeleys from now? I'm sure it will be something rather special to up on the Primaluna game. E

Well....
I actually bought the integrated version of my power amp, not that I needed to, but I wanted to reduce box count and it just so happened that one came up for sale about an hour from me.
I had originally planned to add the matching preamp to my power amp but I never found one in the right colour.
Primaluna amps as you say really go well with vintage Tannoys.
I now have to tell the dealer he isn't getting it, gulp!

Have you plucked up the courage to tell the dealer yet? Will the dealer be upset if he gets cash in hand for a new purchase and doesn't have to go to the trouble of selling something else?

That's true. It should be a Win-Win.

Oftentimes the only advantage to p/xing with a dealer is in avoiding the hassle of advertising and dealing with 'tyre kickers'. No real financial incentive. Having sold the amp now, you are in a stronger position financially, with freedom to shop around. It doesn't sound like this dealer has been pulling out all the stops to accommodate you, so I wouldn't feel the least bit bad about cancelling the purchase, or at least negotiating a cheaper price (if the TT ever materialises!) It's very much a buyers' market right now, as you have seen with the sale of your excellent amp. Now it's your turn to take advantage of that

Deal? I think I've lost the plot on this! I meant cancelling the deal for the turntable Don't need it and I was only buying it so I could trade the amp that no one wanted, however now that it HAS sold, I'm not fussy about another turntable. I figured if I traded the amp that another turntable would be nice to listen to whilst waiting on Angus finishing the build on my AT arm, however the new TT has STILL to be collected by the dealer from whoever is trading it in and it'll be 7 weeks today since I paid the balance of the trade. My arm build is almost ready so my SP10 turntable will be up and running before the new on is even at the dealers, hence the thoughts of just cancelling it and getting my money back and in the bank. I also thought a good turntable would be easier sold on than my amp. I still have to speak to the dealer and I'm not keen to 'P' them off, but he had a few enquiries about the turntable on the day I did the deal so I'm sure he'll sell it no problem and at least then it'll be in stock, a bit more hassle for him as he lives just 10 minutes from me and was going to drop it off and set it up, now they might have to post it to another buyer.

I'd thought the sale of the amp was to finance the purchase of the TT. You have make allowances for us, we have the attention span of a goldfish. So do you have any plans for your newfound wealth?

We have a car to replace after it was written off, so instead of having a good reliable car that was paid off and only the running costs to pay we're now going to be 2-3 years paying for another one, as I'm not wanting to replace an almost 7 year old car with another 7 year old one ( in fact the settlement we got is less than buying an exact replacement - negotiations regards that are ongoing ), so we'll have to go newer, and that means it's going to be more expensive The purchase of the TT was to enable getting the amp away as no one wanted it, and it was going to be easier to trade locally than trying to courier a 38kg package

mikeyb Cancel the purchase of the tt, you don't need one and you can tell the dealer the truth, 'you only purchased the tt to tide you over until you received your arm, and since he has taken his time in obtaining it for you, it is now too close to when you'll receive your new arm. Job done.

The buyer of my amp had to take 4 trains to collect the amp and return home.
He took the amp sitting in the bottom half of the box's internal packaging and covered with a small blanket and all of this in a medium size suitcase.
Now bearing in mind the amp is over 30kg and the buyer wasn't exactly a big chap, he deserves a pat on the back for the effort.
This is his comment to me via email this morning
"Hi Mike,
I was able to get back home with the amp without much difficulty, connected it up last night and it sounds great!"
Of course the dedication shown by myself in jumping in the car and driving 10 minutes to the station to meet him can't be underestimated either 😁
