It is still cheaper on UK Audiomart. Listed at £2100 for the 686. if I was in need of a power amp I would have his arm off at that price. I think if he isn't shifting them or making enough money for it to be worth his while then he'll stop bothering. That would be a shame as not everyone could knock up one of these themselves. In theory I could do it but I wouldn't trust myself to do it, rather pay the extra to someone with the experience. I think it's a valuable service he is doing. £2K for an amp that will compete on SQ with anything at any price and has a lot of power? That's a giveaway.

It IS all the amp you'll ever need.. I cannot fathom why ijrussell is still in ownership of his, but I expect it's financial caution being exhibited.

yeah that is an even bigger bargain but I'm not in need of an amplifier. Plus it's collection only from miles away and I won't pay by bank transfer.

You still see Naim amps at that price being sold despite being inferior in every respect. Plus a lot of people labour under the illusion that the only people who can 'service' an amp are the people who manufactured it. And other reasons that also make no real sense.

HiFi is full of the irrational

It's a superb amplifier. Tbh, I can't believe Ian prefers the Pass design....but that's what makes this hobby interesting

The rienzi are about 87db and are very smooth top end as well as detailed .they just might work with neurochrome . One concern is the loft room gets hot in summer and the jh f5 made it stuffy so thats why the cool running arcam has been a better option . Also sounds good with the bc pre 5 .
