I get on okay with mine. Not that I have much to do with them. Got a mate lives 4 doors down so I see him occasionally, sometimes watch the footy round there and years ago we used to play cards there. I suppose he counts as a neighbour.

I live on a private estate of detached houses. My neighbour opposite me is a complete and total arsehole, so too is the one next door. Every time I go out with a bucket of water to wash the car him opposite creates merry hell in case I get his car wet which is parked next to mine. I play my music with the window open and he is ranting and raving about the loud noise. Moans about the state of my garden to all and sundry. The man is a total bell end, but . . . . . . haven't seen him for over 3 weeks now at his home but seen him driving his car in town, so I reckon he has been told to leave by his "missus". She isn't much better, a right miserable bitch if ever there was one.
To the left of me is another right twat but I am doing a great job of ignoring the Sh#t-for-brains and an uneasy truce exists between us. The chap that sold it to them was a great bloke.
To the right of me is the very best neighbours I have ever had, no trouble whatsoever. They are both deceased and the house is empty.

Best neighbours are no neighbours. Definitely no neighbours with kids. If anyone with children moved near me, I would sell straight away. I absolutely hate the feckers.
When I lived in the U.K., I wouldnβt buy any house with kids anywhere nearby. I used to get on Google Earth and Street view to look for signs of the wee scumbags. Any location with a garden trampoline or basketball net nearby, or any driveway with a bike and it was an automatic no go for me.

Mostly rented 2 bed terraces round here so not many children around for many years, which as you say is a godsend. But recently their numbers seem to be picking up again. I'm hoping it is just a blip.
If I could go detached then I would. Even though I've no bother from the neighbours about anything. If I could have a private island I would. With mines on the beaches and skulls on posts. With cameras in them.

I live in a row of 16 terraced bungalows. I know every one of my fellow residents well enough to have a good long natter with...and if I didn't I would soon enough. It's that kind of village and that kind of area. Village population is around 900. I would easily name 150 of the adults and recognise a large chunk of the rest. We have a pub, a village hall, a football club and a disused railway line that people can walk / cycle / horse ride. The village hall committee organises trips to the theatre, days out to the seaside and places of interest, film nights, quizzes, indoor bowls, wine club, floor ball, scouts, lots of other stuff for the kids and OAPs, and, as the poster always says 'lots, lots more'. I can walk in the pub on my own any time, not have to say what I want to drink and know that I can talk to anyone in there. Not so good for a secret 'one night stand', though. Have to go to the next village for that

Yep, children should be grown in a lab and only released when they reach adulthood What pisses me off is that you are expected to like the little shits, let alone tolerate them. If there were adult only neighbourhoods I would live in one. I reckon my money would be well invested too, because demand would be high.

Sounds idyllic but I couldn't handle that myself. I prefer the anonymity offered by a mostly transient neighbourhood.

Once they started letting them in pubs that was the end for me.

All public places they should be.....
1. On a leash 2. Muzzled or preferably gagged.
Under 5s should be banned from flights too. They travel for nothing and ruin it for people paying full whack. Same goes for restaurants and pubs. That's what McDonald's is for,

Sounds idyllic but I couldn't handle that myself. I prefer the anonymity offered by a mostly transient neighbourhood. When I was 'darn sarf' a group of us would go out regularly and have dinner parties and so on, but we had little to do with our immediate neighbours and, if, (ok, when), we went to the pub, we would chat among ourselves rather than with other people (strangers). 'Ooop norrrf' is very different (at least, where I am)...and, I likes it. A few years ago I took my youngest lad down to London to watch Durham in a cricket final at Lords. Travelling on the tube and seeing a young lad in a Durham top, I asked him if he thought they would win. His father jumped up and congratulated me on being the first 'southerner' to talk to them in 2 days. After then telling him that I had lived in Durham for 15 years, he looked a little crestfallen, but we then chatted all the way to the ground and met up after the game to shake hands and wish each other a safe journey home.

Lots of children, playing with each other. Lots of adults talking with each other. Lots of fun, lots of kindness.

Can't be done with the wee spuds, that's why we chose not to have any. And partly the reason I'm minted.
Will is written, when we pop our clogs our estate will go to the SSPCA.

You'll be near 70 before you gets a Lambo Huck..FFS you'll never get in and out of the thing.
You want a forum owners car, a pimped up diesel Merc taxi like Marco Or a wee Fiat Doblo like Dicky.

utter pos cars mate..they rot away here in 5 years..i could buy one of those pos things every month..worthless junk..only a fool buys one and only an utter fool pimps one up . pick up 10 year old mercs for 50 quid ffs. nobody here wants them once the warranty is up.marie mates bought a 50k new one in 2002..2009 it was classed as scrap due to rust ..50k straight in the bin...the silly twat then went and bought another new one..they start rusting here within 3 years. all german cars here end up worthless in 8 years..ofc there are exceptions...wont ever see me in one though..i buy any ole cheap car as a dd..then either american muscle porsche 911 or a lambo as me summer car. sooner have the doblo than a merc..at least it wont loose 50k in the blink of an eye...

I can only think of one neighbour that I've not got on with, miserable old bitch complaining about noise, even though the music was played quiet (honest). None of my neighbours have had kids, I have mainly lived in bungalows which don't attract families, the very first property I purchased was a semi detached bungalow.

Buying catefully is the key. I like to live amongst older people so like Antonio, I tend to favour bungalows. Also stay well away from houses near a school. Any areas nearby where kids or tennis can gather and itβs an immediate no do. Same with any sign of graffiti. Neighbours either side pay close attention to how clean the windows are, how tidy keep their bins, how well tended the garden is. Look for a nice car and run a mile if you see a people carrier with any kiddie stickers or paraphernalia inside. Any litter nearby also gets me to walk away.
I always ask about neighbours when viewing too and I search Streetcheck for crime reports. You canβt legislate for a knob head moving in after you do rhough.

Another animals charity fan here. Used to give to the RSPCA and The Whale and Dolphin Conservation. Dislike all cruelty to animals, and the are some bad bar stewards out there.
We're lucky that there doesn't seem to be any kids around use and although we live in a ground floor flat (Large Victorian house converted into 2 flats, upstairs/downstairs) we hardly hear our neighbours.

Goodness, what an anti-social bunch. We're on friendly (if relatively distant terms) with all of our neighbours. We're in the middle of a terrace of three; there was a brief problem with noisy parties one side when their son was in his late teens, but that family have moved away, and it didn't happen that often anyway. The only problem is that at the moment everyone seems to be renovating their house at the same time, so there's lot of associated banging and crashing.
