No but you are suggesting that we'd be better off going to a dealers instead of buying cast offs on forums. Maybe we would. I'm just saying we don't have the cash to do that. Which is why we don't do it. I also don’t buy the argument that because it’s being sold on by someone who bought it new, it’s a “cast off” and somehow no good. Every single hifi product made in any number is available used. Buying new is a mugs game. You can have far better sound for less money buying used. You can also buy and sell on without loss until you find your Goldilocks system. Buying new, you are stuck with the thing you bought on a dem in an unfamiliar room and system. It’s an inherently inferior way to go because it costs you more, gets you less and has no flexibility built in.

Doesn't matter to me why they are selling it. Downsizing, bored with it, got something better. Who cares? If I want to try it then I'll try it. And everything I have in my system is second hand, except the stylus on the cartridge. And it is all in near mint condition. I've been to shows and heard systems where just the mains cables cost more than my whole system cost me and they are not a patch on it.
I've also heard systems that were quite a bit better but we'll gloss over that.

Certainly a rich man's game.
Mind you, I'm told Q Acoustics now make some stunning speakers under a grand (I've not heard them yet), the Chinese can make some half decent amps for under a grand for several well known mass market companies (Rotel, Yamaha, Pionner I believe, Onkyo) and many AV amps only a few years old, but not having the latest whizz-bang facility, make pretty damned good music too I think (some certainly could) and I suspect Rudi would agree with this bit at least. No charm in the sound, but the less expensive Denon CD players have, for years, given a very honest account of the music playing, but I do appreciate that the scale and 'charm' of a better player wins over (I don't think my once £3k CD player has gone off, but I've been surprised how good cheaper digital gear is today - just my take and as always, your mileage may vary here.
Streaming is where the tech is today I reckon, yet we're still churning out low powered integrateds for a grand or more, with eff-all in them in reality, chasing an ever shrinking market so humping up the prices to make up for lower sales volume.
