Does anybody know if a weatherproof DC to AC inverter exists? I am looking for one that does 12V DC to 12V AC.

Thetes loads of dc inverters, just box it up with silicon cable glands.

Yes loads of DC-DC inverters but I haven't come across a 12V DC-AC.

I’m guessing this is for some sort of lock or latch release? If so it’s usually easier/cheaper to replace the solenoid in the lock or the PSU that triggers it rather than convert the signal.

It is to run a mosquito trap from a 12V battery.
It is a Mosquito Magnet Pioneer, which is shipped with a 240V to 12V mains transformer. I don’t want to modify the PCB in the machine, but I would like to remove the trailing mains lead in my garden.

Is the 240 to 12 transformer external to the trap?
If so the trap should work if you power it from 12V DC, as the rectifiers inside will also pass DC.

The transformer is external. Is there any risk in me powering it directly from DC? Will the rectifiers see double the amperage? A replacement PCB will not be easy to come by, and as of yet, I have not found a schematic of the circuit.

I would say there is no risk of damage. What rating is the external transformer?
If the rectification is half wave it should work without problems. If the rectification is full wave then 12V DC will be a little less than the internal voltage when fed from 12V AC, but I imagine will still work OK.

I ran DC <> AC once Man, and it really blew my mind Jez
