Very attractive system. I like the use of vinyl as acoustic treatment and the mirror behind your deck looks class, Thanks that's kind of you. I moved the system into the back room that faces the garden when we had a BBQ once and that room is quite sparsely furnished with two door ways, a staircase and some patio doors and it just killed the sound.

Although that wouldn't be hard. What model is the NAD amp?

That's kind macca but the looks are more to do with getting it past my better half, she is very tolerant up to a point so I have to be a bit smart and compromise. The Nad is a c372.

I like NAD amplifiers. Generally too, not had an issue with any of the few models I've heard.

Got one of these on the way: I am surprised you've gone for one Macca? Is it a curiosity thing? Reported to be good.

I'm going to collect the whole set for the TV system, been planning it for a while. I'll try it in the main system ofc. Reports range from total crap to outstanding, as they do with pretty much every bit of kit ever made. It's from my favourite era of hi-fi and aesthetically it ticks all my boxes:

When I first got into hifi it was still being mentioned in the mags as being the classic example of gear that measures well but sounds Sh#t. 'Black Turnip' and all that, and that was almost ten years after it came out so it made waves, just not in a good way. But then they were the same mags that loved Naim and Exposure which I don't rate at all. Always horses for courses in this game.

Those speakers were the best of a pretty Sh#t speaker range, all deliberately phasey and over the place - no idea what B&O were thinking, but they abandoned the ideas shortly after and went into the Red Line models plus a couple of wall mounted slimline speakers* which some of our clients hid behind their heavy-drape curtains - I kid you not!. The Black Tulip stuff though I remember, was pretty good really, but the slightly tinny feel and the maker's name spoiled it as Philips were felt to be a low rent company, which is daft really as the *designs* were always very good indeed, but the execution less so (too much frail plastics in the turntables and video mechanisms for example. Hope you enjoy the stuff macca and hope the Beovox won't unduly affect the main speakers in the same room? P.S. Any more news on the Krell repair?
P.P.S. here's the B&O wall speakers - a bit bland even with amp packs added to the bases as pictured. better balanced than Kans but always a bit too safe and bland sounding.

Hi Dave
The B&O are okay speakers, will just be a change from the Akais currently in there.
There's rarely less than 4 sets of speakers lying about and I've always run a separate TV system in the same room but never gone further than 5.1 - so that was 9 speakers in the same room if you include the sub! Got bored with that though.
Krell repair is stalled for the moment.

Got one of these on the way: Excellent amp imo - I had one for quite a while - clean, clear, controlled. Astonishingly, mine seemed to be BNIB. Put it up against your Krell. The smaller one you showed a pic of in a stack is nowhere near as good, imo. I had one of those, too.

It will go up against the Krell, don't worry

Black Turnip amp is here! Just gave it a quick test into some sacrificial speakers to make sure it is okay, and it is. Sounds very promising even through rubbish speakers.
Will give it a proper go on Saturday when I've got daylight to work in. Speaker terminals are dreadful though, possibly the worst design in history. No way they will take the hosepipe thick SPOTFIRE cable even with adaptors.

Can't do it mate, I have to keep it original. But it is loads lighter than either of the Krells, that's true. Could tuck it under my arm.
Got a few different cables that will do the job, might try that Monster cable I found when I did that big clear-up last spring. Zero recollection of buying it but it is plugs at one end and bare wire at the other so I can hopefully jam that into the tiny sockets. I suppose in 1979 everyone was still using bell-wire even at the high-end.

The previous owner kindly supplied a set of those with the amp. But I don't like them. The sockets don't grip them very well. And my speaker cable has spades not plugs at the amp end which makes it awkward.
