Aye up gents, been a mad frantic day with one thing or the other, then work stuf been deadlines and deadlines. Mrs went for an afternoon stroll, at which point I was ripping open the packaging like a man possessed. Managed to get the Vida Prima plugged in, connected up and switched on and get some current through her. Unfortunately cant spin a tune yet as both lady Gong and I share the back room, where my system is, to work from home My chance will come when she's done for the day, before 6 - Have mercy Olster, me is sufferin' man

He's either totally underwhelmed or overwhelmed. Any odds anyone? Mrs Gong may have seen the receipt and is currently disposing of the corpse?

Sorry AA comrades, had to have dinner which I didnt chew, wash up, now my time, so Stylus tip has hit the black gold and two sides in. First album has been Freddie McGregors Big Ship lp, one of my reggae staple's been rinsing this one since in release in 1982 so mad familiar with it. I needed to see how it managed this tuf reggae offering, the rhythm the bass etc The OTP MK1 had this nailed and just to my taste, stonking driving bass, slightly open in the mids and treble. The Vida Prima, plays the reggae as it should, and has given me initial and first hand insight into how it presents things. Whilst I can tell it is still bedding in, zero hours on it's clock, so things will change, presentation is neutral, balanced, bass is very good for so early on, treble is more even/balanced, so slightly less forward, that's clearly part of it's neutral character, zero fatigue which is right up my alley. It is punchy, fast and lively, thank God, the music moves n grooves. This stage is very quiet, so I am able to turn up more. It is nicely dynamic too, without overdoing things by way of any overt character which I'm always afraid of with kit, I'm always after kit with talent and skill not ego, if you know what I mean, gifted by way of letting the music shine and play starring role, by not getting in the way, too showy, too dynamic, muscular, riding rough shod over accuracy, truth, the recorded music, I've never wanted a beefed up, spiced up, romanticised, polished, re-invented portrayal of things and thankfully the Vida Prima doesnt do that, it just lets the music flow through. Just put Curtis Mayfields 'There's no place like America today' album and his vocal expression and delivery is coming through beautifully ! I cannot wait for the hours to build on this thing, because from the off, this is good and is staying put ' So In Love' just coming through, one of my faves on the album, great horns, just parping now, not as euphoric and out there as I've heard those horns presented, but still with plenty detail, as I'm used to, more even, I'm getting more separation of individual parts a tad more info. Flipped over to side 2, did I mention Curtis's vocal expression and delivery - excellent, defo that bit more info realised here and it's become apparent that the vocals and music have moved out of the boxes that bit more than before, now this I really really like, hope there's more of that as hours build - nice ! 'Blue Monday People' - wow ! As much as I love Lady Gong, we are going out for a rare day together, coffee, shops, lunch and dinner in the evening. I'll be with her in body, guess where my head and spirit will be ? guess where my head will be hankering for my body to be ?..... 197 by

Good to see there's another Curtis Mayfield fan here. Bloke was a genius, never understood why he's so off the radar these days. Every album is superb.
Stage looks great and the casework matches your turntable plinth too. Bonus!

Was out with the Mrs, from morning 'til night yesterday, didnt get home til nearly 9. Mrs just popped out so I've flung some Bob Marley & The Wailers on, Rastaman Vibration album which again, I know like the back of my hand, been spinning this since release 1976. Listening will be in spurts, as and when, due to usual home and work demands. Either way I'll grab every moment I can, as I need to properly familiarise myself with this stages attributes. It's defo good, I like how I can up the volume more, due to less noise, it's a quiet thing. Very detailed, truthful, fast, punchy/dynamic in a balanced way, it doesnt overdo things, doesn't hide or polish, natural and non fatiguing, plays what's there, I know that's a phrase we hear, but that's the case, she digs deep and reveals the separate layers that were previously merged into one, that's a sign of quality in my book, and most welcome . As well as further familiarise myself with how it performs, I'm curious as to if there'll be any change as hours build, ie: any run in change and what that might be, a little more smoothing maybe? Bottom line is always to know if you are able to live with something for the long term, so the tunes, a wide variety, are going to be spun every possible opportunity over the weeks

Man this phono stage has really come on song, I'm seriously impressed. The presentation of music from my system has grown up so much.
Absolutely loving how I can up the volume, due to it's low noise, and fill the room with the music which pours out of the speakers, detailed, layered, vocals are lovely, proper lifelike and out of the speakers.
Just going through Rupert Holmes - Partners in Crime lp, this is the best I have ever heard this, Get Outta Yourself was a sensation !
I'm not done with praising this stage yet, but I'll say this, it is clearly a genuine audiophile tool, no question, proper, regardless of price.
Neutral, insightful, get's right inside the recording and serves it up for your pleasure, in that natural analogue way that keeps you coming back because, it's the music, where vocals sound like they are coming from a real person, instruments and the playing sounds like instruments being played, it's an aural treat, delight and indulgence, just like any good performance is.
and that's what this stage makes you realise, the music, here it is, no sauce or condiment flavours, you know its just the music - this stage is a class act, as I say, regardless of price, which in that regard it is a bargain !
Just got Dennis Brown's Dont Know Why, (Sly & Robbie on drum and bass), this stage lets you hear the unrelenting stomp and punch of this rhythm section, it really really has come on SONG tonight - thank God for run-in hours and the benefits thereof
