Glad I don't use any of those brands. Get some PSVane and don't worry!

From what I understand (not a lot to be fair) most of those New Sensor tubes are just graded for noise/matching etc and then are almost branded from there. Top of the pile being Gold Lion then EH with Mullard (the new ones are meant to be dire) and Sovtek bringing up the rear.
Unfortunately the Gold Lion's are among the best tubes I've heard in some applications (300B, 12ax7, 12au7) including a lot of NOS ones so that would be a real shame if they dried up.
I like the PSvanes too Oli but they are out performed by the Gold Lion's in my experience. Also had issues with brittle gold pins on some of their 12ax7's . . . could have been a bad batch I suppose. Sounded great in a phono stage though.
OH NO - JUST CHECKED ON EBAY AND ALL THE NEW ONES ARE GONE!!!!

Just bought 4 Genelex Gold Lion KT88's, HotRox, Watford Valves, Langrex, none in stock! Managed to score mine from Hifi Collective. It's a £300 bill that I didn't want but what do you do? I've tried loads of KT88's in the past in the Gold Lion's are my faves.

The JJ KT88's actually had better bass and low end in general for me but the GL's a bit more exciting overall.

Couldn't get on with the JJ's, they have lots of fans but I'm not one of them. Bass seemed a little lacking when in my system, but then it's horses for courses.

If nothing but the GL's do it in your amp, you've done exactly the right thing. If you don't end up using them they could be commanding original Genelex/western electric/GEC/Sophia prices one day!

I must admit to not thinking about them being an investment, more, a continuation of my weekly pleasure listening to my valve amp and sipping single malt once a while.

That's the way I justify most of the things I buy! You know you'll enjoy them at some point so you're just moving the purchase date along a bit.
