I would never buy an amp on its looks but in the case of Macintosh I'd run a mile on the looks! The most disgusting styling I've ever seen! I like the old classic 275 but it would have to be an original one as I couldn't be doing with those horrible gold binding posts etc they ruined the re-issue with. I agree to some extent and yes, don't buy for looks alone but they are a little bit spesh. I mean Come on! look at them!!! lol The ones made after the late 60's are the most hideous looking amplifiers ever to grace a hi fi shop!

Used to have a pair of the original, plain looking 275s run as monos, nice amps.

McIntosh did not make Reel To Reel machines but the old Akai '400' would have been the perfect choice

Yeh, half mine, half our kids. Into a pair of Apogee duetta 2, a JC pre and an sme with a koetsu rosewood.
