I went to solder up a cable last night, and my cheapy Maplins refused to get warm. Fuse is ok, so I think it has popped it's mortal coil....
So, I need a replacement. It needs to be a decent iron, but for occasional use only. Something pretty powerful would be good, in case I need to resolder solid copper RCA sockets again.
Any suggestions?
Happy to spend about €150 to get something reasonable. It's not going to get used everyday, so I don't need professional quality.
Spare tips etc. Need to be readily available.

Can't find that on Amazon.fr
Did find the Preciva 8786D. Need to research more as the Atten looks similar to another make available.

Both units are ideally for you Kev, the Hakko's I used to use a lot back in the day, JBC now. However both will work well for you and plently of spares.

Found this on Atten.EU What tips does it take? It is not going to be much cheaper than the ERSA though.

According to one site, it has been “retired”.

A pretty scathing review… Just realised this is the D and not the E.

A pretty scathing review… Just realised this is the D and not the E. I've used mine for the last however many months to solder anything from CMC sockets to SMD. It's never missed a beat and has been absolutely reliable. It's in use every day and I am very happy with it.

That is the cheaper version - 60W. I have found out that the Atten is a Hakko clone, and that Farrell rebadge Hakko under the Tenma brand (if you believe all you read on the internet). So, it seems like a bargain, compared to the other stations.
My shortlist was: Ersa RSD80 Hakko FX888D Weller 1010
All,close to or above €150 where as the Tenma is closer to €100

It was recommended to me before but I had a voucher for Amazon. I picked it up for £30, but it has been totally reliable ever since. I am very happy, and yes, Farnell rebadge the Hakko.

£30 is a bargain. It will cost me €90 for the same station, and the Hakko is a little bit more.

What tips do you think I need for cables, and a bit of PCB work? There is a set of 10 on Amazon for about €23, but obviously not Hakko, but have good reviews.
For the amount of soldering I do, these are probably good enough.

Those tips I linked to come as a pack and believe it or not, I use mist of them lol You only really need a fine tip for the work you mention, but it never hurts to have options. Especially if you decide to try some CMC sockets or something. Then those big tips come in really handy.

I used my gas powered iron to solder the Viborg sockets. The electric iron just did not have enough power.

The FX-888D takes a T16 tip, so I will look for something similar.

Having slept on it, I am going for the Hakko. It gets universal praise. I am buying through Amazon, but it is supplied by an ISO9001 supplier, so should be legit. €135 delivered. Seems good enough to me. I am sure one of the cheap T12 irons would also be sufficient for my needs, but you can’t beat quality tools.

Ordered. Now all I need is an interesting project, like a pre-amp PCB.

Mine as well. I have had many of my automotive tools for over 25 years, and they are still like new.

It has arrived. I am going to pop the top off to check it is genuine, but all the signs look good so far.
