Hi all, Having been trawling the web for a new set of scales, I happened to notice a few similarities between models, regardless of price. www.audiozomba.com/product/stylus-force-gauge/I'm wanting to get the setup on the Windfeld spot on, and thus don't want to wait weeks for it to arrive from china, so I spent the £40. (Reduced from £119!??) However, if you have a bit of time on your hands, you could buy this one.... a.aliexpress.com/_mrCFbouWhich I am SURE you can see has obvious similarities....spoiler alert...it's exactly the same lol Surprisingly though, this one has a lot of similarities too: www.ortofon.com/ds-3-digital-stylus-pressure-gauge-p-708So, save yourself a few quid and buy the EXACT SAME device direct from the manufacturer.

I’ve got the Ortofon, although I’m sure it wasn’t quite that much when I got mine. I’d definitely recommend it. It’s a quality bit of kit.
Crucially the measuring platform is dead level and roughly the same height off the platter as a thick record. if you look at the cheap generic one that’s sold under all sorts of brands, the platform isn’t flat and in total it’s 5mm+ off the platter so the measurement of what tracking force the stylus will present to a record can’t possibly be accurate.

You can get close with those, as I've used one for donkeys years, but with the Windfeld riding closer to the surface, that platform was a little troublesome. However, anyone can get the same scales for £20! Got to be worth it

Mine cost £12, now it has a platform on top that extends outside the weighing area so there's no issue with magnets.

If anyone wants one of those scales of AE let me know since I'm coming back to the uk early March, come to think of it any smaller items as well if you don't have a AE a/c, be quick though. Anyone sorted out this get together yet, I'm flying over 7000 miles for it, so no complaints if you've got to drive 100 miles

The scales arrived today, so I ran them through a series of measurement checks. I used a £2, £1, 50p, 20p, 10p 5p and 2p I then put them on both the cheapy set and New set of scales. All coin measurements were 0.01g between the scales. So, the only benefit in terms of paying extra for the new ones, is using the little platform. It does may life a lot easier. I then realised I hadn't taken a photo of anything, so did these ones quickly

Here's my effort Snap ! I have the exact same one, bought from a guy on Artof? who made them, some years ago, may well have been you ? either way, bloody superb, made properly. I've had others but they all got discarded as I realised not just that this was the best one but by miles, seriously, I'll never part with it
