Aye, I'll be at home relaxing with the family.
I hope everyone can do the same, and remember the real sentiment behind Christmas.
Here's wishing a happy and peaceful Christmas to one and all, and a happy, peaceful, and prosperous New Year.

First job, get the fan on, second job make the coffee and then relax for the rest of the day. Maybe even go and see a friend for something to eat and round of the day in a couple of girlie bars.
That's Christmas for yer.

We were meaning to spend Christmas with some friends and neighbours, especially since our families live out of country. However, with Omicron being the ‘overperformer’ that it is, we are considering whether that will be too many people from different households for good discretion, though the alternative may be just us two which would feel a bit sparse.
Music of course is always a part of life, Christmas included, though the tree is competing with one of my speakers at the moment!
Still, whilst there are stresses and we tend to work too hard, we are thankful that we are not concerned about food or a roof over our heads and are mindful of those with such worries. Also, we note the fresh Afghan refugees on our city who are thankful for house, food, and safety but are missing the family they’ve left behind as they fled.

Today we're off to a log cabin in the Forest of Dean for the week.
Hot tub, Log Fire, Food, Japanese whiskey.....it's shaping up to be a very calm, but enjoyable lead up to Christmas.
Personally I can't stand all the madness that seems to fill this week annually, so we decided to not participate and wait it out in the forest lol.
All our gift buying is done and has been for a week or so.
Home Christmas Eve, where we always make a proper Christmas dinner. That's the best bit of Christmas for me, that and watching the kids open their gifts.
It's getting harder to convince the eldest son of Santa's involvement, as I never lie to them. His suspicions are now pretty hard to deflect. Lol
This could be his last year of Santa. How sad.
We'll enjoy it while we can, as the 7yr old is still absolutely into the magic of Christmas.
Above all, I'm just enjoying some time off work, time off from building hifi and time with the family.

I was only three years old when I twigged the whole 'santa' thing.
My parents had bought me a tent and decided on the ambitious venture of putting it up in my bedroom whilst I was asleep.
Putting a tent up is never easy and doing it in the dark whilst trying not to wake a sleeping child - impossible.
I woke up and saw them and sussed the whole deal but I didn't let on that I knew for many years after, didn't want to upset them.

Jolly good of your 3yr old self to save your parents feelings and effort there, good work (where did it all go wrong ).

My other early Xmas memory is, at the age of four, being left alone to watch 'The Wizard of Oz' which I found quite traumatic. Could not watch it again for years afterwards.

My earliest Christmas memory is of me, my sister and little brother, all dressed up smart with my Mum and Dad and our Christmas gifts in hand.
I can still see my little sky blue milk float, with white milk bottles in the side. I would sit on and ride it around the house.
Brother with a huge teddy much bigger and taller than him and Sis with her doll.

other than that tent the only pressie I can recall is a Lego rocket on the launch pad. I think the only reason I remember that is it took so long for me to build it. I would only have been 4 or 5. I can't even find any images of it so it must be very rare today. If I'd just kept it sealed in the box it would probably be worth a million quid now. I had a Lego oil rig too but that was some years later and I knocked it up in an afternoon. It was this one:

Well today I had to finally give in and acknowledge Xmas as an imminent event and entered a supermarket for the 1st and only planned time this month. This unfortunately involved using up 45 minutes (door to door) of my life that I won't get back. However I did manage to complete all my present shopping for my 3 grown up kids and their partners in the booze section of Sainsbury. The reason for choosing Sainsburys was the fact that I'd accumulated £87 in Nectar points so the whole depressing experience didn't impact on my bank account to the tune of £65. As for my 3 grandkids, well me Mum usually chucks me £60 so they'll get £20 each, making my whole actually spend on Xmas £12.50 (£10 towards a group prezzie for Mum + her card) a most satisfactory result in my eyes.
Yep you've guessed it, I'm a professional Bah Humbug, though I will put my plastic smiley head on when I visit my Mum & grandsons, so as not to incur Mums/Daughters wrath.
