As the forum poster may know, I started with the Argon 1's, then got the Argon3 LS speakers, and love them to bits. I had new PS mono amps a few weeks ago, and as I have a love for class D and PS products in general, the combination is quite nice, so PS SGC dac/pre and M700 amps feeding the 3 LS speakers Attachment Deleted

would like to get a listen to some of these Amphion speakers. I see they are part of the passive radiator revival.
Only speaker I've owned with passive radiator were the KEF Calinda. Bit bass-shy in free space in my room but a pal now has them in his 15' x 45' room, about six inches from the wall, run of an old AR amplifier, and they are tremendous with excellent bass.
OFC the radiator is on the front panel on the Calinda so they don't want or need space behind them. Always wondered why it went out of fashion for so long, it has several advantages over using a port, with a smaller size speaker anyway.

I have the 3 LS models (floor stand version of the 3's). Over the last couple of months have heard in demo a set of Canton and ATC40's, and there is no getting away from the fact Amphions are a hard speaker to let go, and to that end am very very reluctant to do so. IF I do upgrade them, it will be for the slightly bigger brother, the 7LS

Very wise .I love the look of them and listening to my argon one right now. To me at least, they are one of the 100's of speaker makers who can produce a good looking speaker that sounds good. Try looking for say a 7LS model second hand, I even asked Bill Leigh who is the UK import agent, as he said yesterday, "In my experience Peter, most people keep them for a long time. The combination of them being excellent and not having new models every year minimises the urge to change. I am sure they do come up occasionally but I am not aware of anything I can point you to at the moment."

peter . i thought your budget was 5k which is enough to buy new ?? many dealers will do you a deal as well . i have seen them ex demo but sometimes better to get brand new with a bit of haggling . gato stuff is often way cheaper than many advertise s/h if you ring dealers and haggle . q acoustics speakers are often up more s/h than you can buy new

It's lovely to hear that you enjoyed hearing Argon 1. I have to admit that they fit your house very well. I don't personally own any Amphion speakers (but I have read many positive reviews and comments from other audiophiles who do). Also, I found a few websites with excellent stuff about speakers. Overall, I would suggest that if you want high-quality speakers, Amphion speakers are something to consider. They might not be as well-known as other speaker brands, but they are excellent.
