F@ck me £2900 for a buffer? It goes in the analogue chain, not digital.
You'd be much better off buying a BT2 preamp and you get a top notch volume control function as well.

It's just a buffer. If you have decently designed kit you just shouldn't need it.

from reading the blurb it seems like it solves a problem that doesn't exist except in some very random edge case situation that you'd probably have to go to some lengths to set up.

There suddenly seems to be a few we'll know names throwing out buffers.
I wonder where they all got that idea from?
(Tom Christiansen)
Or the BT2....although they don't do it how we do it.

Pointless unless you have a device with a Sh#t output stage that can't drive a car down a motorway. Even then you can only match impedance, you can't fix a bad stage.

Someone on Wigwam thinks it's the bees knees, and £3k well spent Who are we to argue was reading that and get the impression that he was just using his DAC as a pre-amp previously. With most of my power amps that doesn't sound as good as using a pre-amp, whether it's the Philips or the DCB1 buffer. So maybe the same with active ATC, in which case I'm not surprised it's a revelation to him with the Whest buffer in-between. You go from okay but a bit bland to what sounds like the studio feed. No need to pay the thick end of 3 large for that though. The Whest phono stages are over-priced too IMO.

If you think the stages ate overpriced you should see how much a service costs!
