Big fan of Bowers and Wilkins. Had the 804s and a number of standmounts. Year ago got some 607s2 anniversary which Cost 449 quid
Yes they are only vinyl wrap but they are delightful for the money being good with vocals . Hope to get some 606s2 anniversary if my local dealer can sort them ??
Anyone else a fan ?

I've liked all the ones I've heard old or new.
used to have the 601 years ago now. With the bright yellow kevlar driver. Had them on pillar stands with the grilles off, my mother thought they were lamps.

I have been a fan of Bowers and Wilkins since '01s. Had few models from DM series and few years back moved to 803D model. After 20 years with Bowers and Wilkins I had a change of heart and went with Living Voice.

I bought a pair of the CM7 floorstanders when they came out 2007/8 I believe it might have been, as an 'upgrade' over the '90's Mission 752 Freedom.
They were a nice speaker but didn't move me the way the Freedoms did, which balanced better within the system I had then.
The used Freedoms were a fraction of the new CM7 cost. I moved the CM7's on quickly and another pair of the Freedoms were immediately back in action.

Friend of mine has the original 683 as the mains on his 7.2 home cinema system. Good speakers, think they only cost him £800 new but that was almost 15 years ago now. I think the latest version is about £1500 like most modern B&W need a 'proper' amp to get the best out of them, they're sensitive but a hard load. Probably this accounts for why a lot of people don't like B&W, they won't sound good with some wimpy boutique thing driving them.

Yes funnily enough I had the class a monoblocks with the little 607s2 today and didn't sound brilliant at all.
Heard them sound a lot better
Loads of offers and discounts on 700 series at the moment

Sorry Phil, would rather have a pair of Klipsch RP600M's when I heard a YouTube clip of a match up between the two, but I'm pleased you're happy

well its all relative , they are just exceedingly good value . yesterday i spent the day comparing the amphion argon 1 [1200 quid] to the 606s2 [ 599] . both similar size .for the money the 606s2 anniversary is good . enjoyable but the amphion totally trounced it imho . bigger soundstage , more smile factor !!! and just rather nice . needless to say a separate thread will soon evolve

we use some little aviano in the dining room , these sound quite reasonable for the small size. been used with a little topping 20 t amp . which is a pocket rocket . popped the 707s2 on and you can hear immediately the change in clarity and bass . these little amps are great for the money . pretty good vfm and sounds very respectable

A few comments on forums recently saying how good they are. Can we expect to see some B & W's up for sale in the near future?

I bought a pair of the 603s2 speakers a few years ago and I hated them. The sound was utterly disjointed as it seemed the speakers were doing their own thing with disregard for what the other drivers were doing in the same cabinets. Arrived on Saturday, back on ebay on Monday.

The sound was utterly disjointed as it seemed the speakers were doing their own thing with disregard for what the other drivers were doing in the same cabinets. Arrived on Saturday, back on ebay on Monday. Very similar to the 603 S1s I used to have. I got them to "upgrade" from my MA R352s, and kidded myself that they were better. They weren't. Deeper bass, but it just took me away from the music. After 2 decades standing idle, I gave them to a mate, as I thought they'd have no value. But have you seen the prices people are asking for them these days? Though there doesn't seem to be any buyers. If someone offered me the choice now of either my old 352s or a pair of 603s + a nest of tables complete with a nice bowl of fruit on top, I'd pick the MAs every time. No doubt they've got better since then, and I believe they have some synergy with Rotel stuff.

Not a B&W fan myself. I've heard quite a few, but they always sound a bit flat, moderately resolved, and uninspiring.
I note macca's previous comment about them needing a serious amp. Tbh I can't recall what amps were used when I heard them. The best I've heard, and they were very good, were Bowers Active One. Amps onboard as you might surmise. This was from the time before B teamed up with W.

601 were okay, 602 were good for the money, 603 I never got on with. Very disappointing speaker, not one I would ever recommend.
Older B&W models from the 1980s and early 1990s are still worth looking at though. The 'Matrix' series are probably as good as B&W get, still hold their own today. After about 1993 they changed their whole approach and started designing for a 'showroom' sound.

I have two pairs of B&W speakers. Nothing bad comes out of them but they are nothing special. One is a quarter wave tapered line and I used them for 20 years before I heard a good pair of sealed enclosure speakers. Once that had happened the B&W sounded all wrong. My other pair are small stand mounts with a port. Blocked the port and put them against the wall - much better but they are still boring.
