I am sorting out my man cave, and found a couple of valves that were not in the spares box. I can't remember what they are, and I am struggling to identify them. Valve 1: The code seems to be 7E68, but I am guessing this is a PCC189 - 7ES8 Yellow print could be "Japan"? So, what make is this PCC189?

Valve 2: A Telefunken... Diamond on the bottom I am thinking it is a PCC85.

Valve 1 could be a PCC189, from Japan could be a Matsushita?
Valve 2. All the PCC85's I have have a longer anode than all the PCC88's I have. Looks like an '88.
The '85 heater is a greater voltage than the '88 so plugged into a conventional preamp you could probably see the difference in the heater colour. However you won't in the KIN because the current is controlled, not the voltage.

Thanks Alan. I have a couple of Matsushita PCC189, so I will dig them out and compare. I will see if I have any TFK PCC88 to compare. I think most of my PCC88 are of the Siemens variety though.

I'm thinking Tesla going by the white text on the first one? It is definitely 7E in the first two characters. Difficult to photograph, so difficult to see..

I have just bought another TFK PCC88 to have a pair for the BB3, and a couple more TFK PCC85 for the Kin, as they were cheap. It is good to have some spares…
