I don't think you need to listen to loads of valves Robbie, I'm sure someone on here would recommend a good fit for you, that might be Bigman since he sells them, then in 10yrs time you can come back on here and ask again.

That’s fair enough Rob . I’m just saying that it isn’t really any hassle at all. The ones Oli supplied with his boards are geared to sound pretty neutral and perform very very well so they are fit and forget until one dies however many years down the line that may be . Replacements can be had under 20 quid .
I’ve had both versions of the OTP and the performance difference is very subtle but it is there .
Anyway you do you buddy . See how you feel when you hear the BB3. I just thought I’d add my two cents about value for money and the near enough end game performance that’s on offer with a couple of these hand built Phonos that are doing the rounds without breaking the bank .

If you are looking for something a bit left field I am thinking of selling my Salience now I have my BB3. Very highly regarded 2 boxes with separate power supply. Salience, never heard of that, onto Bing and the answer Jasmine LP2.0, well I've heard of them, always got good reviews and I like that it's two boxes, and the looks as well. |

I'm probably gonna miss out on that particular high level cause I really cant be asked with the whole valves thing, time, listening to different valves, then something else to think about at some point like the blinking stylus wearing out etc etc. My life has too many other pressing priorities, family, home, wife, work and other commitments, time..... although music and hifi will always be my personal priority, my passion for life, cant exist with out it. Everything in hifi is a priority, hence I'm after an excellent SS and need to be patient. The OTP MK1 Andy has lent me is likely nowhere near the BB3, but for I wouldnt expect it to be at it's budget price point. However, the humble improvement it has brought is very welcome, hence my curiosity re: The MK2 and was there a MK3 ?? Something like this pushed / improved / maxed out / bigger, better would be very interesting to me and probably not a bad compromise..... There was an OTP Mk3, I have the development mule😀 that I twisted Firebottle’s arm to sell me. Gary |
