Here is the desoldering trick I've been wanting for years. Trimpots, 3-lead regs, terminal blocks, even through-hole caps: this makes desoldering them simple and easy rather than frustrating and harder than you know it should be... assuming you don't have a hot air reflow station, which absence makes you a DIYer rather than a manufacturing/repair business I suppose.
For single row items, just use a single segment of 20-24ga bare wire, and it just drops right out, with a generous amount of flux and solder!

Yup, I've used a triangle of wire for taking out trim pots for years. You can beat the super low temp solder, chipquik, the parts just fall out of the board.
