Since I've very little experience at any of this diy lark, I thought I might ask the experts on here Would it be possible to use a pure silver wire as the hot and copper as the earth, to save a few pennies or am I talking bo--ocks as usual. It's just that pure silver ranges from £70 - 200+ for 2 x 1 metre lengths depending on thickness, whereas OCC or even OFC would work out much cheaper. One more thing, if you were to make up a silver interconnect, would you necessarily use silver RCA's, or would there be some good reason to us pure copper ones.

There is no point putting brass plugs on a silver cable.
You can put Silver on the hot and copper on neg, that would work. I havent done that, but i have heard a cable done that way. I didn't like it.
For me, Silver cables should have silver RCA plugs or there is no point.
Keep your eyes open for used Silver interconnects and just retrofit some nice silver plugs. That will save you a fair bit.

I did say put pure copper RCA's on, not brass, my final choice of RCA's (price vs performance) came down to those MPS ones, and then you have just mentioned them being near the top of your choice list. I guess if money was no object I'd give those DH Lab ones a go.

I went back to my good quality copper cable and the same plugs!

I used the silver UP-OCC cable and Aeco silver plugs. It was expensive, and not much better than a UP-OCC copper cable with copper plugs.
