I’m probably beyond the 25 hour mark now. Unfortunately I only get a couple of hours a night to play, so I’m not able to listen to music as much as I’d like. Fortunately when I do there aren’t really any restrictions on volume!
I was listening to a few of my ‘big hitters’ last night Hey You/Comfortably Numb/Fletcher Memorial Home/Final Cut. All of these have some some really crisp and hard hitting transients and they were sounding bigger and harder hitting than ever before. When I got my amp i was impressed by the dynamic contrast, and the BB3 only lets more of that shine through. The gun shot on Final Cut is almost implausibly loud. Top stuff.

How long do you other BB3 owners find it takes for it to warm up and come on song? It certainly doesn’t sound bad right from the start but I feel like an hour in and it has really opened up and become more 3-dimensional and an extra level of detail seems to emerge.

Probably still breaking in? I find only a few songs for mine. Depends on ancillary kit too maybe. ?

I find 30-60 mins for mine to fully get into its stride. I’ve found that with all the valve gear I’ve had though so nothing new there I usually switch on after work before I go up for a shower then when I’m sorted come back down and it’s good to go . As mentioned before. After 75 -100 hours , stick the old phono back in . I can guarantee that you won’t be able to listen to it anymore. You’ll be glad you didn’t go for an 834P

We've had a few though our systems. I never understood what all the hype was about to be honest. The one that came to the penkridge bakeoff finished dead last in the voting. The one this guy has, has at least been fettled by Alan, but it's still miles off the pace.

The BB3 is sounding very much ‘on the pace’. I can’t remember the last time i played anything other than vinyl in the lounge. The only problem is that I’m going from sitting in my office chair all day to sitting on the sofa listening to music all evening and It’s killing my back!

It’s been a while since I updated on this and although I haven’t been keeping track I must be well through the 100 hour mark by now. What made me think about posting an update was that it dawned on me that my music has sounded remarkably good the last few nights.
It’s crept up on me almost without noticing because I’ve been having a play about with a few different cartridges which has meant that it’s been hard to discern any changes in the sound due to other things. I put my Cadenza back on because I had a couple of new records to play and I wanted to hear them at their best and I have been fairly astounded at how good ‘their best’ is. Playing a few more familiar things as well I have been a little taken aback by the level of ambience and fine detail I’m hearing. I think the BB3 has really hit it’s full stride now. Loving it.

Yeah, it does creep up on you. There is a point where it changes though and I've nailed this down to within an 8 minute window. However, it's never the same twice, but there is a moment when it all just falls into place Hard to explain too. Anyway, sincerely glad it's ticking the boxes and providing enjoyment ✅

You have to hear it to appreciate just how much other phono stages get in the way, even ones that have proven themselves to be great compared to others. Any that I’ve heard at any rate. The startling thing recently is what I can only describe as an explosion of micro detail that creates a rich ambience that has simply never been there before.

Yes the magic sauce is in the design, but like all good concoctions the actual recipe is secret.
When I have mentioned to a couple of folks that I have come up with a unique circuit they have looked at me as if that's not possible..
I have always loved the creative design aspect of being an engineer.
