I bought a new digital transport this weekend. Well when I say bought, I mean won, on t'bay, and when I say new I actually mean quite old. I took a punt on a broken audiolab cdm transport. Original model with the cdm 9 Pro mech. The bulbs are shot on the display but they're pennies to replace. It's had belts and gears done recently and everything else works perfectly. Case needs a respray. But for £112 all in I couldn't be happier.
Can I tell it apart from my macbook pro via audivarna into my A18, can I heckers like.
That's an itch scratched.
I'll have a look at the AES output on the scope this week, though I reckon it needs nothing.
I was also looking at the pi2aes dac hat. That looks killer if you can use i2s, quite literally the best measuring transport you can buy- for buttons.

I was considering getting a Pegasus Musician and hooking up to my pi using the pi2aes. Would have been killer I reckon, then i went and spent it all on my new ZYX. 🤣🤣 Choices, choices !
I found the owner Micheal Kelly was very quick to respond to questions.

Too late, my next purchase is some solar panels for the roof. Free music during the day ! 🙂
I made the right choice though as my old cart gave up about 3 weeks later.

For a pi and a dac with i2s I think it's the best option. Limited use case for sure, it's aes and spdif out are also good, but not as good.
I'll put some pics of the cdm up once the case is repainted. Lights all working now.

flic.kr/p/2m446LGA bit dark, but here she is, new feet, new bulbs and a lick of paint. Just needs a power switch 3d printing.

The screen isn't actually that bright. That looks like a job well done 👍 I have been very impressed by Maccas more recent CDT, so much so I have been close to buying one a couple of times.

It's a keeper, so I'd like to have one in the bag, I have a spare pcb and two unobtanium chips for my neurochromes, same for Paradise parts I have matched sets laid away, just in case. Can't be too sage.
I've listened to more complete albums since I bought it than I had all year.
