Ooooh, a 75% loss of conductivity vs copper for brass plugs. In real money that means a couple of mOhm more resistance for a brass plug vs a copper one. Or you could just make the cable 10cm shorter to equal it out.

a milliohm here and a milliohm there and pretty soon you've got a whole ohm.
Don't look at me though I use plugs I found in a skip.

My issue would be the description says all contact is with high purity copper, then they talk about a coating? Gary

If you look at the exploded view the surface finish of the contact area seems very rough, I would have expected the surfaces to be polished. might not make any difference in performance, more of an observation. Gary

Gary That's how you know they are direct plated on to copper. Copper doesn't finish smoothly when you machine it. Some will say the rough finish will provide even less contact area.....and they'd be right

Fair enough, you aren't even the first to do so today! 🤣 How are you anyway, Gary? Not heard from you on here for a bit! Any new bits in the system?

A rough finish may provide more contact area and pressure, depends on how rough and even the roughness is!
I'd tight a tight plug over a fancy one

Mine were €70 for two pairs (four plugs). The DH Labs ones are priced per pair.

I'd tight a tight plug over a fancy one Lol, I disagree with this too, less contact area is available on rough surfaces. More friction and pressure maybe. A tight fit is a requirement for best contact. Gary

I’m not too bad, a few health niggles nothing major though, you seem to be going through the mill a bit. In no particular order being buying a few bits. Current main system Lenco turntable, Firebottle OTP3, Analogue Audio Puccini integrated, Rega RX3 speakers. Cambridge Audio streamer, Topping E30 DAC, LPSU. New bits TagMclaren F3 Pre amp (was integrated but previous owner had power section removed as it was irreparable) didn’t work when it arrived, Alan did his fairy dust stuff though. Pioneer N30 streamer Yamaha MusicCast streamer Quad 11L speakers 2 x ProArt PP7160 2 x JustBoom DAC’s Nobsound (lol) pre amp Mshow Audio pre amp Firebottle edition Partington Dreadnaught speaker stands........collected yesterday. I think that’s about it. Gary

But, as long as I'm above ground, I'll keep ploughing on! Still enjoying that Just Boom DAC? jimbo has gone a little quiet on his....I'll bet he's knee deep in vinyl again 😜

I seem to be accumulating stuff now 😂 Hope the hand gets fixed. Gary

Two surfaces can be rough but still matching

Two surfaces can be rough but still matching Depends what you mean by matching?. They will fit together, but roughness cannot create bigger contact area. Think of machining either straight machining or turning. Your effectively creating a line of grooves, so you have peaks and troughs, you can also have a wave effect. The Rz numbers measure the peaks and troughs between these two points. The Ra is the average of the Rz numbers over the whole workpiece so takes into consideration the wave effect. Its a mute point though, will it effect the SQ...in extreme conditions maybe, I don’t know! Gary

Ha, I was one click away from trying those a while back. AliExpress is a place of great inspiration to us both, Dave

So why didn't you buy Oli? I wasnt convinced over the longevity of the plug, or the connection. Also, it's just a bare wire to solder to, which anyone who does this king of stuff will tell you, is likely to fall out if you heat it up for too long. Just wasn't convinced mate.
