Hi all,
For sale are my Yamaha NS1000M speakers.
This is a ‘Proper pair’ that have stayed together since they left the factory.
I bought these as a stop gap, about 10 months ago. After listening to them I went on a rampage to learn as much about them as I could, with plans of Troels Gravesen’s XO’s and upgrades to the internal wiring etc all laid out and ready to go.
Unfortunately, whilst my enthusiasm has not waned, the time and cost to do all the things i had planned has become somewhat restricted, and in truth my head has been turned by tall, slim, temptresses. The fit and forget type. Which is much needed for my time management.
Both speakers have been subjected to a facelift at some point, with what I suspect to be an attempt at Piano Black in high gloss. However, it has not quite been achieved, but with hand on heart honesty, they don’t look that bad at all. I asked a local car body repairer for a quote to respray them and do a proper job. He reckoned £200 would cover it.
All of the important bits are fully functioning. The L-Pads, The Bass drivers, mids and those mega money tweeters are singing away beautifully as i write this.
The XO’s still have the push tab things on them for the speaker cable, so i’ll include a set of Russ andrews-like adapters, which i have been using without issue for all of this time. Use anything up to 4mm with them. I also have the proper replacement binding post panel, which I never fitted. They would be included too.
I have the Grills but they need recovering with proper audio grade material. Structurally, they are fine…..so a rarity.
I also have the foam diffusers for the Tweeters and Mids.
I was going to fit a couple of magnets to the bass drivers, which has reportedly seen improvements, but I never got to that either.
The plan was to epoxy the existing magnet in place, let it dry and make sure the magnet is secure. Then just place the extra one on top. There is a DIY audio thread on it somewhere.
You can have the magnets and the epoxy too.
As you can see from the pics, they are on little black cushions on top of my now world famous brick-stands. They haven't actually ever touched the bricks.
They are monstrously heavy, so feel strong when you collect because my bulging L4 and L5 vertebrae will not permit me to lift them.
Doctor said no.
So what price would be acceptable for such historically important speakers?
Cheapest pair I can find online in the UK is £2000.
I will take £1000 for them.
Obviously as they are older than me, they are not quite immaculate, but you'd need to sit very close to them to see anything obvious. However, I must insist on a personal inspection before I accept any payment for them.
Personal collection only from sunny Wolverhampton. You can send a courier, but only if they pack them and lift them.
Happy to demonstrate them working and sounding utterly superb. I’ll even make you a cuppa…..i’m nice like that smile.png
If you are on Insta, there are some vids of the speaker playing on there. Look for Bigbottle_Audio.
