# Moan: # This is also a question: Who can YOU trust with your new shiny devices when all of it (New shiny devices) is in Beta mode? # # The only company I know and trust is good old # # SONY # #
Point! The question below:
Any ideas on which Bluetooth will give access via the home without quality loss. (It's a dificult one I know).
Bought Asus BT5 USB.... What a waste of hard earned.
It it ain't able to accept Logi mouse and stream music at same time even though Manufacturer says it does. Typical of manufacturers nowadays.

Guilty Secret - -
I use Bluetooth 5 aptX HD all the time now for my music. All streamed via my phone from an Internet streaming service (Qobuz, YouTube and Spotify atm) into a £35 Chinese Bluetooth receiver with digital outputs to my DAC de jour. Works flawlessly and sounds great imho.
.. . . Err, I'm not sure what you want to know....?
I don't know what a Logi mouse is, any relation to Mickey?

Much appreciated Jerry. I forgot to mention, if you use that power bank you'll have to plug an extra load into it, as the BT receiver doesn't draw enough power and the power bank shuts down as it thinks it's not being used!

No problem thanks, got a spare adjustable linear supply, which should do? Hopefully...

Bought a logitech usb5 receiver the other day. Don't know what the dac inside is but it sounds fine in the kitchen. Back to back into my pre vs the gustard using phone and Bluetooth it's left wanting...

Just to be clear. I have my system: A&norma > Alexa > Logi z906 speakers. Cheap but really good sound.

Going to ask you later how the performance is?

No. That doesn't have digital outputs, it just uses its own doubtlessly cheap and crappy on board DAC. The whole point of the one I linked to is that you can use your own super-duper wonderful DAC.

What do I think?
Once again, and follow me closely here, it does not have a digital output.
It uses its own on board DAC, albeit a better one in the case of the Alieexpress item.
What I want is to use my own DAC. <- that's the important bit.
To do that the Bluetooth gizmo needs to have a digital output that can feed into my own DAC of choice.
The 2 items you have mentioned only output in analog, they use the DAC that's on-board the Bluetooth device. I want to use my own rather wonderful R-2R DAC.

Ah, I didn't spot that! Anyway, optical. Pshah. Coax is a lot better imo. Especially with my super duper Ixos cable.

But isn't you HiFi output Analogue?

I think optical might sound a bit more 'relaxed' to me but that's probably not real. No way one can be a lot better than the other unless something odd is happening.

lol well it's just the way it works isn't it? Really optical should be a bit better as it can't transmit noise. Or something. Anyway I really can't tell the difference on mine and I've swapped back and forth and played the same music at the same volume. Just not resolving enough. Maybe when I get my Tannoys I hear it then Jerry?

The signal isn't optical, it has to be converted to and from that form to go down an optical cable. I can't imagine why that would be a perfect interface. Or something. Anyway, I hear them as different.

Tannoise. My favourites.

It does but is still a digital code expressed as a voltage at that point, it isn't a voltage representing an analogue wave form. So it shouldn't matter.
Plus that electrical signal could still carry noise, but once converted to light it can't. which is an advantage for optical.
As I understand it, and I might be wrong, asynchronos usb is technically the best. But there doesn't seem to be much love for USB here. I've not tried it.

Yes, fair point about the digital conversion. I was just making it up to justify my subjective preference.
