Generally speaking usb is about 10db better than spdif as regards jitter if you look at dacs of the last decade. If you pick ASRs top ten measuring dacs it's much less. The best dacs are still better measuring on usb than spdif though, without exception.

But according to ASR there should be no audible difference between any of the possible connection options.
If you think about it even if there was it would have to be incredibly slight, a big difference would mean something badly wrong somewhere.

That's a 'should'. Which I agree with, but it really needs to be written thus, when implemented to the standard defined in the interface speciation and thus achieving a bit perfect transfer there 'should' be no difference between interfaces.
I like to think of it this way. It interfaces sound different it's down to bad design, not good.

We all know that literally anything you do to a turntable will change the sound but it's a mistake to think that carries over to digital. Digital is far more robust. You've got people like Darko claiming putting a doorstop on top of the DAC changes the sound. I mean where do you even start with that? It's just ridiculous. But people believe it.

I have seen some very good examples of that recently, whilst browsing the internet. A serious case of Hi-Foo.

Yes, I read around the forums and that, and at least once a day I'm close to spitting tea over the keyboard.
