Really interesting review and good to hear your thoughts. Is the Allo USbridge the old one or the USbridge Signature? I’ve given both the USbridge signature and the pecan their own Linear ps to great effect. So looks like the Pecan hadn’t lost its crown yet? Does still make me curious about the Denafrips Ares. I suspect giving this one it’s own linear ps is going to make a big difference. Thanks again for doing all this. Hi, Perhaps a bit late of a response for you but might help others..... I have listened to both the denafrips ares 12th anniversary and the Soekris 1421 in back to back listening sessions. Both units were well used and broken in and borrowed. While both are good I found the ares to seemingly give a bigger side to side soundstage but not as much depth and detail compared to the 1421. Eventually after much listening I liked the Soekris better (and purchased it) as I found it more realistic in its soundstage size and palpability of voice and instruments and appreciated the added depth and detail. The denafrips wider soundstage started coming across as bit artificial and more of an added high frequency ambience to my ears.

I thank you if you will take this to heart and improve your abilities to discern factors that affect sonic reproduction by cables and electronics. Do you really think that's going to happen when we can't even properly determine if "break-in" actually exists? Moreso trying to define the period when these amazing changes are supposed to happen. I take you comment to heart with all the noise out there from people with no attention span or experience or willingness to put any effort into it. Yet vocal they remain. It is becoming easier (though still frustrating) to ignore these folks. So it does happen if one can filter out the useless noise. But tough for those out there just getting started so I hang in there and cherish every soul saved from ignorance on a topic they supposedly care about !

Hmmm.... your review only partially acknowledges break-in and warm up time. I own a Soekris 1421and noted it took about a week of being plugged in and regularly played (I left it playing overnight with the amp volume lowered) before the sound quality and signature began to fully settled in. Not sure I can entirely trust your reviews even though you have the panache to write them well. Please spend more time evaluating break in time for electronics and cables so you can provide better reviews. I thank you if you will take this to heart and improve your abilities to discern factors that affect sonic reproduction by cables and electronics. rrrumbleI wrote the review you refer to. I am going to cut you a bit of slack as it appears English may not be your first language, but.... 1) "Please spend more time evaluating break in time for electronics and cables so you can provide better reviews" Well, I can only assume you have never read anything else I have ever written. I am one of the few who extol the virtues of burn in and the perceived audible benefits of leaving digital equipment left on. If i didn't in this review, it's likely because the DAC was bought used and burn in would not have been a factor having had many hours of use prior to my ownership. I always leave digital devices on 24/7... As for cable burn in....you really should check me out for my ridiculously obsessive adventures into cabling lol 2) "Not sure I can entirely trust your reviews even though you have the panache to write them well" I am delighted you think I have panache and you think my review is well written, but you absolutely should not trust any review written by anyone. Of course, there may be performance characteristics of devices that transfer between systems and listeners ears, but my experience is that devices sound quite different in other systems/rooms. My reviews are purely of MY experience with a device, in my room with my system. Regarding the Soekris: The 1421 is excellent. The 2541 is better...add a very good LPSU and you'll be very happy. I am a fan of Soekris .

The Soekris 2541 was that good it was sold to me. It really is an excellent dac, and has been used as a stand in for a dCS Rossini when that went in for the Apex upgrade and never let itself down. I never heard it before the LPS upgrade though @rrumble How long is 'burn in' and how do you recognise when the optimum level has been reached? Do electronics take longer take than cables and what about speakers. The longest recommended burn in time I can ever remember seeing was 500hrs, what's yours?

There's burn in, applying to a new product.
There's also warm up, applying to an item of any age needing time from turn on to optimise its sound quality.
Warm up varies a lot from component to component.
My near-vintage Arcam Alpha mk2 and mk3 amps sadly require 2 to 3 hours to warm up, after which a reasonably decent presentation improves to a surprisingly good level.
My Thule IA60 amp, though, sounds excellent from the moment it's turned on, I hear no subsequent improvement.

The Soekris 2541 was that good it was sold to me. Ha! To be completely truthful, I was looking in all the wrong places to achieve the sound I wanted. The Soekris never did anything but impress me, but a DAC was easier to change than speakers, especially when the speakers didn't exist arlt the time! The two best DACs id owned (Before mVaders) were the modified Aqvox and the Soekris 2541. Now my room is as sorted as it'll ever be with the new speakers, I was thinking of revisiting some "pieces from the past" to see whether my original thoughts on them would stand up. The first piece I have revisited really didn't.....so, I have abandoned the idea lol
