Joined today and have been a HiFi addict for over 50 years. I guess like most of us I've been through so many systems over the years. Or I hadn't culturally I would be much worse off, if financially in a better position. No regrets at all, this hobby has given be too much pleasure for that! After all these years still haven't decided on the interpretation of music I like best. Recently bought a Shelter 201 cartridge and lost the precise placement of instruments and soundstage I love so much. Yet yesterday put one of my many Little Feat vinyl albums on and wow did it rock. Loved it so much played though my Little Feat collection for several hours. So for me the journey continues and the next purchase is a new phono stage. Thinking of the Sonneteer Sedley or Primare R15. That's as far as the funds will stretch. Been lucky in another way, my wife Ann has been with me all the way and until recently came to listen, when kit was being bought. Anyway onto my current set up: Turntable Project Xtension 10 with Evo 10" tonearm Denon DCD2500NE CD Player Denon PMA2500NE integrated Amplifier Monopulse Model A loudspeakers Streaming using an Apple MacBook Pro Any suggestions on the phono preamp at around the same cost would be welcome.

Hi Cav! Welcome to Audio addicts 😊 The Soneteer Sedley was classed as "Underwhelming" by this forums previous owner and Hugest Soneteer fan. It's hard to recommend one when such a listener is not taken by it. I have never heard the Primare but I don't think they make anything that's "bad" but again, I haven't heard any of their offerings to decide for myself. Personal listening is maybe the best way to decide on those. Are we assuming the budget is around £700?

Hi and welcome. A name would be good to know.
If you can stretch your phono budget a bit Oli is working on a single box version of his Bigbottle phono stage, you won't go wrong with that.

Thanks for the reply. After making the post I managed to get a Primare R15 from the Nottingham HIFi Centre for £720. Too good to miss (I hope). My name is Ron

No it's new being sent directly from Primare UK. Had a chat with Martin at Nottingham HiFi Centre. Got to say he was very helpful and made the offer of a new one for the same price, so quite a good deal.
