Quiet morning at work. So I was having a look around the interweb, and found tgis site, which seems to have some decent stock of new PCC88 valves at reasonable prices. www.electrontubes.nl/Voorraad/stockset.htmI have no experience of the vendor though, but at €12 for a Siemens PCC88 it could be interesting for a few on here. They have arrived. I have plugged them in to check, and I can confirm all is well. I would suggest that if you need some PCC88, you get in touch with the vendor while he still has some stock left. Just compare his prices to eBay…. €12 for a Siemens PCC88?

The two readings will be left and right channel, the reading is probably the anode current at specified bias voltage.
Looks good to me.

Yeah it was just one, but got it. Will try it in V1 once my cartridge is fully run in and I’ve got a good handle on that.

I’ve been trying the Tungsram in V1 for the last month or so, and today put the Siemens back in.
I think I prefer the Siemens. It’s definitely a touch quieter in terms of background hiss if I’ve got the volume turned up. I also think the soundstage is a bit better. There was something not quite as good about the Tungsram, although I still can’t put my finger on it. Not that there’s much in it.

Mine is the 'halo' type. So is the Siemens. I'll have to try to find myself some foil getter types. If anyone has any telefunken, Tungsram or Siemens foil getter PCC88s they want me to take off their hands please shout! I'll have to check my Telefunken ECC83 as well. I'm still pretty new to this valve game!
