if you recall, there was a plan to make a Bigbottlov Phgonostage, inspired by my admiration for the Russians abilities in the realm of valve manufacture. Unfortunately this plan was doomed to be shelved forever after it looked like the valves i had bought for the project had been lost in transit. Today, one lot of the valves landed so i thought i would let it warm a bit. I have had one in the system for an hour now to allow it some warm up time. I took out the TFK ECC83 and thought to myself "seems pointless to do this now i have a full compliment of Telefunkens" However, whilst i await a proper listen, i thought i would start a thread and try and dig up some information on them. Here is what i have so far: EV Improved Characteristics and Extended Lifetime. - OS Especially Stable, selected for usage in Soviet Space and Nuclear programs, very stable. ZERO MICROPHONY This 6Н2П-EB-OS is a miniature 9-pin dual triode vacuum tube manufactured in VOSKHOD USSR. The 6N2P-EV-OS (6Н2П-EB-OC) is very similar to the ECC83 /12AX7 but it has a slightly different pin out, so NOT a drop in replacement for the 12AX7. Electrical parameters of 6Н2П-EB-OS: LifeTime: 8000+ Hrs Filament voltage: 6.3 V Filament current: (340 ±35) mA Anode voltage: 250 V Anode current: (2.3 ±0.5) mA Anode power: 1W Grid1 voltage: - 1.5 V Steepness: (2.1±0.5) mA/V Gain: 100 ±175 Input capacity: (2.35 ±0.35) pF Output capacitance 1 tr.: (2.3 ± 0.5) pF Output capacitance 2 tr.: (2.5 ± 0.6) pF The capacitance between the anode: <0.15 pF Listening impressions to follow.

BUMP! Come on Ollie, I enjoy your assessments of the weird and wonderful!!!! Ha! Thanks rextonI will write up the thoughts in a couple of days. I want to give it some time to be fully up to speed. I also want to get rid of a modicum of Sibilance that turned up a couple of says ago before i make any sort of final impressions. At the moment i seem to just be listening for sibilance, so no point until thats sorted..

I prefer NOS Reflektor to Voskhod, based on my E88CC days with my Project pre-box RS. Funnily enough, I have a Reflektor here waiting for bi BigBotoloski build, with a lot less Russian components than you.

The Voskhod sound a little more linear to me but ihave to say that either brand is far better than most people know or would expect.

I don't like Reflektor, tried a few types and also moved onto something else.

There is a big following for Reflektor, but like you I wasn't sure what the big deal was, but then in a different application, who knows. I would find it hard to believe anyone couldn't be impressed by this particular valve though

I would find it hard to believe anyone couldn't be impressed by this particular valve though I'm very open minded and more than prepared to listen to any valve. Reflektor valves are perfectly OK it's just that I've heard better, my adventures with 6SL7GT's taught me never to make judgements and assess each valve on it's own merits.

I would buy a Reflektor for this comparison but they are twice the price and when this valve is giving this kind of performance it's hard to spend any extra. I do have another Interesting valve for the comparison but it isn't here yet

Absolutely mind blowing thread this ! It's not often that I'm truly gobsmacked but I'm a falling over point now ! I Just cannot see how you achieve things like this. I've looked from pillar to post and asked the greatest minds on the evening cleaning staff and there's been zero knowledge comming back on how you do that square thing after 6HS...

Since this thread has been re-opened by our eloquent guest, what were your listening impressions, comparing with the TFK?
