I hope he treats the car better than that tablet.
This is the problem with buying them everything they want, they don't appreciate the hard work that goes into earning the money that makes it possible. If he'd stacked shelves for a week to buy that tablet he wouldn't be so quick to smash it up.

Needs some tough love IMO.

I'm trying to imagine how my father would have reacted if I'd smashed up an expensive gadget in a fit of pique, but my mind is incapable of imagining the parental wrath that would have ensued. (Not that I ever owned any expensive gadgets; indeed I don't think there were such things in my day).

My dad worked on the docks and, though a short-arse, was built like a brick Sh#t-house. I remember to this day my brother being knocked sideways off his chair by my dad for using a (very) rude word that he'd heard in the school playground. PS your lad looks like he's got a bit of a tum on him.

My old man was 6'6 and about 14/15st wringing wet, my brother and I were both around 18st of cage figher a piece, and both over 6'4.
When he spoke, we listened, no dissent or attitude, even though either of us could've man-handled him.
It wasn't fear, it was respect.
He never hit us either.
Had I thrown a temper, my old girl would've beat the living Sh#t out of me though lol.
No word of a lie, she once laid into me with a massive glass ash tray and broke it over my foot. She was ferocious but she got the most push back and the most attitude.
Lesson I took from that was show my kids love and respect and they will do the same back.
PS, my old girl's a diamond, just hard as nails. She apologized about it later on in life and like she said, that's how her mom and dad treated her, she thought it was normal. Told her she'd get locked up for that today š

There'd be no question of buying me a replacement, I remember asking whether I'd get anything for passing the 11-plus (some kids I knew got bikes). All I got from my dad was a hollow laugh. My mother said I should thank God for being born clever enough to pass the test, and not be asking for a reward.

That sounds exactly like what mine would say. Except I never asked for anything for passing the 11 plus, it would have been a waste of breath.

Let's hope he passes next time, to miss out on one question is a bit hard. Make him pay for a replacement tablet.

I left my teenage daughter a note when I went out on Saturday morning:
"I've changed the wifi password and the Sky box pin. When you're dressed and you've tidied your bedroom, text me a photo and I'll release the new codes'

Buy one that's a year or two old, let someone else take the hit on depreciation.
