This is worth a read before making your own mind up.

That's a great thread. I've read that a couple of times previously and as such now rarely visit ASR.

Its a scandal, a company who makes good measuring kit featuring prominently on an audio site who has a USP of focusing on good measuring kit actually linking to reviews of their kit.
Do you have any links to sites reviewing your product Tony? Its a scandal if you do.

Simon
Imho the forums owner has always had an agenda, a well meaning and thought out premise that is not particularly neutral, at some point money/goods or 'favours' will come into it human nature.
I absolutely 1000% know that one particular forum owner was 'given' a pair of world class speakers on long term loan by a US arm of a famous high end company a few years ago.
Audio precision is excellent TE kit, I have two of the older models and they are industry standards, I personally prefer the Rhode and Schwarz UPV, both are first class instruments, Noel Keywood uses one for his tests I believe.
I feel some of the other forums replies are quite vitriolic.

Gentlemen,
May i just remind you that whilst the link in the original post above is ok, as THEY are discussing ASR, and we are reading them discussing ASR, we are falling foul of the rules here at AA....me too.
We aren't here to discuss individuals, or other forums. We can discuss the issues raised in the linked thread but I don't want to become a forum bashing forum.
So, I'll edit the names out shortly, but please refrain from naming any more names etc.
Thanks

I'm not a member of ASR but I have been reading it since it started. I think it is good that there is a forum providing independent measurements of a lot of products. I don't see a downside to that. Those who think measurements have no correlation to what they hear don't need to bother with it. But it is there for the rest of us.
Oddly it is the people who reckon that measurements have no correlation to the listening experience who get most up in arms about it. Especially if something they use and like measures poorly. Some sort of contradiction there. The rather child-like venom expressed in some cases does those people no favours, either.
Another criticism is that there are no listening tests done. But if you want a subjective review of a product the likelihood is there will already be several on the internet and more in magazines (which may also be available on line).
Personally, if I'm considering buying something, I like to read some subjective opinions and see the measurements. That's more useful than just having one or the other.
Do I think that you can just buy a set of components that all measure well, hook them up and get a great sound (as opposed to just a good sound). No. To get a great sound there has to be something more to it.
Whatever that is, it's elusive. The mystical 'synergy'. That doesn't seem to be explicable with measurements, although it should be. Maybe, as the old subjectivist war cry goes, 'You're just not measuring the right things!' Who knows?

I started reading it but got bored after about 30 seconds after struggling to really comprehend what they're on about.... Off to listen to my Lenco and Quad 34, wish me luck.....

I like the in depth testing on ASR, its no better than JA's stuff in Stereophile.
I have issue with their utter reliance on steady state tests, just using the Miller/Dunn tests for jitter, never thinking about phase noise etc etc.
The most useful thing they do is the 32 tone imd test.
I'm not a fan of any idolatry, whichever house it favours. SABF, blimey they make the Wam look none partisan.
