I'm Paul, savvypaul, often shaken, occasionally stirred. I'm a regular poster at HiFi Subjectivist and I author a satirical blog hififoofight.org/I keep the above two 'personalities' separate - my posts on HFS (and here) are not the views of HiFiFooFight, and vice versa. I've been into hifi for around 35 years, since my mid-teens. Been through lots of different gear - looking through the threads here has reminded me of stuff that I forgot I had bought! My system is shown below, although I've moved things round a little since this was taken. I joined here a few days ago, initially to contribute to the Stoke Bake Off thread...but I may hang around and contribute more widely.

'Sweats who think they're hard, my head no end do in' as they say in Birkenhead.

Hi Paul. Glad you joined to help. Those stands look like Torlyte, I like the what Torlyte did in my system. I’ve had a turntable stand and a few isolation platforms, but never speaker stands. I did want to try the Russ Andrew speaker with Torlyte cabinets and just missed a pair a couple of years ago. I know they are expensive but it does work well from what I’ve heard. Did they replace a more conventional stand? Just wondering if you felt them exploring as a used purchase?

I much prefer them to the 'heavy metal' stands I had before - everything in better focus and better timing, which is v important to me. They sound less hifi so not as 'impressive' at first, but much more musical to my ears.

Hi from me -
Your other half actually allows the visible rats nest of wires behind the stereo? Yikes

Hi from me - Your other half actually allows the visible rats nest of wires behind the stereo? Yikes Hi Dave, I hope you're keeping well. I sort of tidied it up a little since the photo...but my other half has her own place to worry about.
