I couldn't tell them apart blind, on longer listening though the smsl seemed sweeter at the top.

if I was willing to pay the SMSL price I'd have just gone the little bit extra and got the RME. If the Soncoz doesn't cut it and I send it back that's probably what I'll do.

Soncoz has arrived. 0930 so I was 90 minutes out.
I'm assuming I can connect it to the Oppo via the USB? Anyone know? Oppo has 2 USB ports.

well I've tried it with usb and with coax and I can't get any sound out of it at all. Maybe I need to change a setting on the Oppo? I just don't know.

I had to resort to RTFM for both devices and the Oppo manual shows a picture of one of the USB ports with a flash drive thing plugged into it for media files. It is a media player, yes. But doesn't explain why the coax doesn't work. Unless the cable is dodgy. A loaner would be a great help if you can. |

Have you selected the right input on the soncoz? It doesnt auto select Yes I did, I cycled through all the inputs as well just in case. Couldn't get a peep out of it. I didn't try optical as I've only got the one and I'm using that for the telly and disconnecting it is a pain. After trying USB and Coax I'd had enough mucking about for the evening. I'll try it tomorrow. Weirdly it comes with two power cables, neither of which is UK compatible. |
