I value timing, rhythym and dynamics but I love soundstaging, the Spicas are known for their exceptional qualities in this area. But the planets do it differently. At first I tried to rationalise it, but very soon I adjusted and came to accept it as believable. I’m not sure how precise it is vs the Spicas, but it is huge, which more than compensates for me. The way they present the sound reminds me very much of what you get when stood in front of buskers. Not as pin point as Hi-Fi, but probably more like real life to me.
That will probably make zero sense and is also complicated by the Planets being full omni. Not sure what you’d call the Spicas bit they beat anything and everything I have heard for their 3D reach out and touch imaging.

Looks like I have found speakers that beat both my Spica’s and the Planets. A Sonneteer owning mate got a pair and brought them over for me to hear. Suffice to say I had to have a pair myself. More when I get pics taken.

Still without internet so can’t easily post pics. The speakers I’ve fallen for are Reference 3a MM De Capo. I heard a mate’s pair many moons ago and thought them special. He had them on loan and didn’t keep them because the paper in oil cap had come undone in transit and he didn’t want to have a pair that had been damaged, even though he resoldered them.
Another Hi-Fi mate bought a pair very recently and hearing his made me certain I had to have a pair. Mine are minty and boxed and I’m in love with them. Best stand mount speakers ever made IMHO.

Hi Westie. been away a while myself so I missed the closedown. Dunn is a typical bully, so I’m glad you’re not letting him win.you should Email other members instead of just messaging. I didn’t get any email message about the forum so others probs don’t know it’s back.

I have always wanted to have a listen to the de Capo's since first reading about them in HiFi+ many many moons ago. Pleased you found a pair, you never see them for sale except when there's a blue moon.

I heard these compared to Sonus Faber Electas. I love the Electas, but the De Capo's blew them into the weeds!
I've not heard another compact speaker that creates such a holographic image, the depth and postioning is almost spooky. Lovely transparency too.

I was very lucky to get these. A mate grabbed the pair I had my eye on and then let me hear them, which on,y made it worse. Then I got a boxed minty pair for even less......and on my doorstep so no need for acourier. These were meant to be mine. I only hope the new room sounds as good as the old one. I have a couple of pics but I’m waiting until I’m not relying on mobile data before posting them

Utterly stunning. The Planets are essentially a toy version of the proper Duevels and they are still an incredible achievement. Makes me wonder what the big ones will be able to do.

Am I the only person in the world who hates the 'zebrano' finish? Just trying way too hard IMO.
